Britain didn’t only have the Kindertransport that’s true. Domestic visas and Kitchener Camp helped thousands. But these were selective, conditional schemes run by different groups, not one agency and many refugees were still excluded.

I keep telling her! for our youngest’s 11 last year, she did a wicked birthday cake

Last year she made about 4 birthday cakes , 2 wedding cakes and about a dozen or so other cakes , this was the cake she made this year for a youngest’s birthday

It’s a hobby of hers, keep trying to convince her to make it a side business etc…

2/2 down side was I had to work for a bully and a racist, but being January time, (quite period for my work, had no choice, ended up staying with them for about 9 months until something better came up)

Oh it was! Took me 3 years to recover from that!

Thankfully, I had a good/excellent credit rating, so I took a loan out to cover the 8 weeks lost money, (obviously lied about having a job, but you know, one problem at a time🤣)

Took me about a month to get new contracts, job is place…..1/2

I once lost my job on Christmas Day afternoon whilst sat at the table, found out through the news!

Job lost and also 8 weeks of income, was due to get paid (weekly) the day after Boxing Day.

I understand what you mean, Since I bought my house in 2009, every government that has come in, has done something that would have led to me & my family losing our house unless I adapted one way or the other, it’s just becomes background noise eventually.
