The currently escalating tech backlash must be put in the context of:
“people have been listening to the most insufferable techbros in the world gleefully threaten everyone else with mass unemployment for over 6 years, and they’re sick of their shit”

and so annoying
If you got drunk and walked around with a chainsaw, swinging it randomly until someone died, there would be no question that is manslaughter at best. When you do it with a car, you get a misdemeanor.
It takes me only two seconds to know that what they'll apply this technology to is faster ways to murder people in war.

A warning for anyone looking at this humble bundle, Neil Gaiman has stories in many, if not most of them. Looks like they removed him from the covers, but not inside. Disappointing.
Why don’t tree flowers look like flower? And why are they flowering right now?!

Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

This is incredible.
Also. Fuck RFK Jr.
We are so far beyond even Teapot Dome levels of "government captured by private industry" in this country, and Democrats genuinely seem to believe their unpopularity is driven by being too nice to trans people, instead of being driven by their screamingly obvious hypocrisy about this.
That is delicious.
On that note, always remember that Bolsonaro was voted out, tried to do a coup, failed, was tried and convicted, and is now under house arrest. And Duterte was constitutionally banned from running again, arrested by the ICC, and is currently awaiting trial in the Hague.

No child should be locked in detention, period.
As the open letter from celebrities and public figures states: “Children belong in schools and on playgrounds, not in detention centers.”

Because here’s the deeper issue: if efficiency is the goal, why does it only seem to apply when the government wants something from you?
We can automatically register young people for a potential war but not automatically guarantee them healthcare, housing, or even the right to vote in every state.
"That's AI."
As an 8th grade teacher, this is a new insult the kids have been using this year, even on things unrelated to writing.
Someone does something stupid, or ridiculous, or cruel: "Ugh, you're AI."
My kids are so rabidly anti AI that one of them was part of a (respectful) class revolt against their teacher with the sole demand being that they stop trying to push them to use AI. The kids hate it. They're sick of it infecting everything they do. It gives me hope.
As the father of a middle schooler I have seen the rebellion against AI forming there — even using “that’s AI, bro,” not indicating something is literally AI, but that something is metaphorically so — it’s sus, it’s bullshit, it’s bad weird

Odd that they never did this kind of advocacy with Wikipedia and instead every single teacher my kid had told them never ever to use Wikipedia. Makes you question their judgement on this matter.
No, absolutely not.
I firmly disagree. We should be enabling teachers to recognize AI usage and to work to mitigate if we cannot reverse the harms it has done to our children and our world.
They need more support, better pay, smaller class sizes, mental health first aid training, and the right to unionize everywhere
They have most likely been seeing that kind of background flash for the whole mission, and several of them this isn't their first time in space. I suspect they can tell the difference.
I really appreciated this video by Kihana Wilson (who is not on Bluesky, alas) about the mixed feelings of #Artemis II. Follow her on Instagram (www.instagram.com/the_astro_st...) if you're over there!
During this incredible, unifying moment of inspiring international cooperation and spectacular technological achievement, I would really appreciate it if the US president would stop threatening to murder an entire country with bombs.
Hey to all my Creator friends out there:
Ya might want to check your Adobe subscriptions before the next billing cycle.
CBS’s excuse for why it killed the investigation into CECOT was that it wasn’t original and news-distinctive enough.
Actually we should just give citizenship to every undocumented person in the United States who wants it. Walking over an imaginary line isn't some great moral atrocity. Making people live in the shadows as a permanent underclass absolutely IS.
They have the chance to do the absolute funniest thing possible when they return.
Reminder to next dem government: take all of SpaceX’s federal contracts and give the money back to NASA.
