Obviously doesn't work for everyone but until I looked in detail I wouldn't have thought EV would work for me.

Your experience is valid and will apply to many, but sometimes people assume EVs require a drive, dedicated charger, newer car, etc. and that's not always the case.
I charge an old Leaf exclusively from a granny charger overnight, allowing sub-2p per mile driving for around 50 miles a day.

Balcony solar is on the way and granny chargers exist... Access to a plug is an issue for flats though, it's true.
