Today our Vice Chair @tracygilbertmp.bsky.social led a debate in Parliament on sex trafficking in Scotland.
Tracy revealed she has written to Police Scotland to report websites advertising prostitution for violating Scotland's anti-trafficking law. The max penalty is life. π

What's next?
- 12 months is the maximum duration of the review. Gov should deliver before then. Every day, women & children are being harmed
- Withdrawal of consent must be possible for all at any time
- Final regulations must ensure swift enforcement
We stand ready to work with the review. 3/3
Government will conduct a review, reporting within 12 months, to determine if & how powers will be used.
Today is a welcome step towards these vital safeguards. It is a victory for the brave survivors who called for them.
It follows amendments by Baroness Bertin & @jessasatomp.bsky.social 2/3

APPG member @kittysull1.bsky.social MP welcomes this week's vote in the House of Lords to require vital safeguards on p*rnography websites.
Age and permission verification + right to withdraw consent will stop abuse and deliver justice to survivors. π
This amendment will deliver justice for survivors. We want to thank the survivors who bravely shared their experiences with Parliament and called for this change.
Government must now ensure the amendment is strongly enforced without delay.
These are vital safeguards to prevent sites hosting child abuse and trafficking β and publishing p*rnography of people against their will
First proposed by Dame Diana Johnson MP in 2022, the amendment was tabled by Jess Asato MP & Baroness Bertin
+ co-signed by over 50 MPs & peers
π Safeguards secured!
The House of Lords has voted to adopt critical safeguards on p*rnography websites: age & permission verification and the right to withdraw consent
The APPG has long called for this change to combat abuse and exploitation rampant on these sites π§΅
Congratulations to Baroness Bertin, Jess Asato MP & all survivors, parliamentarians & organisations who have pushed for this change.
π The focus now is to ensure Government delivers a robust framework that is properly enforced.
Government has pledged to equalise regulation of p*rnography online and offline, boosting controls on websites which freely peddle violence & abuse.
The APPG has has long advocated this. Over 50 MPs backed Vice Chair @jessasatomp.bsky.social's amendment on it π§΅

As we reflect on progress made, we are grateful to the survivors who have shared experiences, provided expertise and informed our recommendations π
Together, we will continue to demand justice.
Our annual report details recent highlights - including petitions, debates and amendments that attracted substantial cross-party backing π
Industrial scale sex trafficking is being perpetrated across the UK, while the p*rnography trade continues to peddle exploitation & abuse.
Members of the APPG on Commercial Sexual Exploitation have been working hard to push this to the top of the political agenda & secure action from Government π
The APPG on Commercial Sexual Exploitation strongly supports Ash Regan MSP's Prostitution Bill, being debated tomorrow in the Scottish Parliament.
The Bill would outlaw paying for sex and decriminalise victims - recognising prostitution is violence against women.
UK Government must follow suit.
