Hi there. I just learned that while the name “Stede” is often labeled with the horse-y meaning (Steed), it is ALSO derivative from the word “Stead” as used in “homestead” or “place”.

I like the idea that Stede is his own home. Once he finds himself - who he really is - he is always Home.
