When I was 12 it was my turn to lead junior school prayer. I didn't want to. But we got to pick our own Bible verse to read. Baby Vicky not being so dissimilar to adult Vicky and it being 1995/6 you can guess what "Bible entry" I went for. I was never ever again asked to lead prayer.

Some days are just sitting staring thinking about something that's ultimately at best a short paragraph in a book. Today I'm pondering the thousands of fox skins imported from Ireland to England in the 15th and 16th centuries. And just...why?
Surely there were enough foxes in England for fur trim?
Yes! My students collaborated with a local museum last semester with an option being research-based short films to connect with an upcoming exhibit. Every semester I have students make tiktok-style shorts to convey something about their research
Last year I had a student say this when they used AI. I pressed them on who their friend was that they provided them with fake citations and they said they were a more senior history major (caught student was a sophomore).
Some thoughts:
1. The deadline for nominating a person or group for the Nobel Peace Prize is Feb. 1.
2. History professors are qualified nominators.
3. The people of Minnesota have been awe-inspiringly peaceful in the face of state violence.
4. He would be so mad.
