1/📦 Scientists uncover the tiny machine that delivers essential molecular packages to the cell surface
This fundamental activity for maintaining healthy cells has been revealed by combining cutting-edge microscopy techniques and artificial intelligence

2/🔬 "This nanocourier is one of the largest nanomachines in the cell. But it could not have been studied in detail until today due to its short lifespan and dynamism" says Oriol Gallego - @gallegolab.bsky.social @upf.edu - who has led the research published on @cellpress.bsky.social
3/ 🚚 Everyday in each of our cells the nanocourier named ExHOS -standing for exocyst higher-order structure- delivers between 10,000 –100,000 lipidic vesicles to the cell surface to fulfil cellular processes that require exocytosis
4/ ✅ “The ExHOS features three checkpoints and a mechanism of disassembly that ensures that the delivery of molecular packages continues at the required speed” says Marta Puig-Tintó, co-first author of the study with @sasmeek.bsky.social

Last saturday PRBB celebrated the OpenDay. We participated showing our projects and prepared some practical activities to teach the importance of the neurobiology research. Visitors interacted with mouse brains, brain tissue slides and mircroscope observations. Great day for science divulgation!🐭 🧠
