I don't know what immigration options were available to my great/grandparents a hundred years ago, but I know that in the end, there were those who came here in the '20s and '30s and lived, and everyone in their family who stayed in Europe--parents, siblings, cousins, aunts, grandparents--did not.

Today's siren was, for once, just a standard annual memorial siren for Yom Hashoa. It's weird. I've never felt like I've had to mentally justify [my/county's] existence to the world as much as I have in the past 3 years. But in the end, I don't come from a family of holocaust survivors. Zero.

Project Hail Mary finally opened here in some theaters and I saw! There was an alarm during an extremely specific scene with a particular song playing that had anyone cracking up because of just how on the nose it was; movie paused until the incident was over and then resumed from the same place.
