A large white waterfowl with orange feet stands in front of a door. On the door is a cardboard sign secured with tape that reads, "DO NOT LET THE DUCK IN."

Adding insult to injury, I think the duck might be a goose.

"but if we ban guns only bad guys will have guns" is what this sounds like. Puerile motivated reasoning in the best case, and more likely bad faith condescending copralalia. Ban LLMs in consumer applications, then enforce consequences if techbros lie. Or just the latter, then we may not need a ban!

The french gov is switching to Linux, partly to disentangle France from American interests, but more importantly because Microsoft (#microslop) makes increasingly unreliable software

DINUM is the Directorate for digital, but this is for all ministries (so all departments of government if I were to translate that in a US setting?)

This time it's for real, with all public services to switch progressively

Not once in the 80s, 90s or 00s do I recall a politician urging the public to embrace email, mobile phones, texting, two factor authentication, online banking, air fryers, or to replace all their cassette collection with a CD collection.

So forgive me if I smell a rat.

Excellent, concise thread on why using LLMs for code generation is an antipattern.

There's more to add! But this is the hard kernel of the problem.

Yes there is a huge difference between conservative and anti-democratic reactionary 💙 I hope the new govt keeps their promises about restoring rights and prosecuting corruption, the US could learn from that too!

I've noticed it become less effective over time, tbh. I've found browser extensions more effective in my case. For something more comprehensive, I might look into setting up a pi-hole

LOUISE GLÜCK
THE UNDERTAKING

The darkness lifts, imagine, in your lifetime.
There you are cased in clean bark you drift Through weaving rushes, fields flooded with cotton.
You are free. The river films with lilies, Shrubs appear, shoots thicken into palm. And now All fear gives way: the light
Looks after you, you feel the waves' goodwill As arms widen over the water; Love,

The key is turned. Extend yourself.
It is the Nile, the sun is shining, Everywhere you turn is luck.

The best part about 1917 is SD leaders told women not to turn out for International Women's Day protests in March because it was a lib-coded distraction and they wanted to save their juice for May Day. Instead the women turned out anyway and those protests literally sparked the revolution

Can't agree enough with this and if you own your home and everything is neutral, reflect about whether you really prefer it that way or are you afraid of color - afraid of the room looking small or that you don't know how to pick them out or thinking about resale value years and years from now?

Wikipedia Bans AI-Generated Content “In recent months, more and more administrative reports centered on LLM-related issues, and editors were being overwhelmed.”

Yeah, sure, the height and speed of the tsunami of bullshit have both grown by an order of magnitude. Not great!!!

But that means we should double down on aggressively, effortfully attacking anything that worsens that further. That means **OPPOSING** a software system that by design will always lie

It's not like the banks in 08, which had a liquidity crisis. GenAI is not profitable, it can't make money. Mayyyyyybe Google or Fb or Amazon get a bailout. Bailing out OpenAI ot Anthropic would be pointless, they'll just need more money in another four months.
