Oh the administrivia I could tell you about! I would have warned you 😅

There's also one in July 👀
I met a woman at gamescom who told me she planned gamescom for 8 years as the lead and that was the only one FROM Germany that I met, the rest were all from elsewhere showing things. And of course erased from history??
This is so fucking funny and you deserve to have the best day to have made this for us all to enjoy.
Perfect example of why relationships with other indies matter so much. Also great to read more about this from this perspective and yet another example the CMF is not the only thing that make this industry viable in Canada. BC tax credits are not the reason for this success either. It's the indies!
LOOK AT THIS AMAZING STUFF. Congrats to the whole team on hitting 40K in one day. @sunsetvisitor.studio is just so rad.
The famous picture of the earthset from the Artemis II crew but with our hand drawn otter concept art for Otter Half: Your Hand in Mine on the moon as well.
But what if... otters on the moon?
Here is a picture of a baby otter for no good reason.
@blakedesjarlais.bsky.social so looking forward to having you in @andrewknack.bsky.social's office! Congratulations on the new role.
New @cmf-fmc.bsky.social program dates and some program changes announced today! Make sure to refer to cmf-fmc.ca to see if there are any that impact you or your studio!
Today and every day, we honour trans people for their courage, their joy, and their impact on the world. You deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated as you are.
If you are located in AB like us, you can use your voice to advocate and write your MLAs about supporting the trans community.
Trans people deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated, especially for their countless contributions to the games industry.
Build better spaces. Hire them. Fund them. Play their games.
At IAA, we are proud to run programs/events that support marginalized communities and will continue to do so.
Happy to see @onlybymidnight.bsky.social and @buffalobuffalo.bsky.social, two studios who showed their games at GDX, nominated for best indie game. Only wish their games were also acknowledged in the other major categories and not just relegated to purely indie!
Definitely sign up, we'll be covering more than just GDX! If you're an Alberta Indie, it's important to be part of the conversation!
Saw a post for making a Lord of the Rings themed nursery and figured hey I'll look at this. The fucking mobile is 400 fucking dollars. Can people who were IN the movie even afford that? That hurts my brain.
Oh goodness just reinforcing the angle on the shoulder which I needed today. Definitely a burn it all down kinda vibe.
The question I have is how do we call in that behaviour when it happens in our communities? What if the people don't even realize they are the ones causing the damage? Some folks can justify anything, even harassment or inciting violence against others, if it suits their specific narrative.
I feel this in my soul and bones today.

But hey, we'll have expo halls of $100+ Nintendo games that cost $50 for the chance to purchase said $100+ games which surely will fix the economy and somehow make our developer ecosystem stronger!
Now the really fun part is when your local non-profits who are almost exclusively funded by your own city decide they want to pull back on supporting the local ecosystem. If we don't stand up for our city, our province, our country, etc., no one will and local companies will suffer.
Regardless, your decisions matter and as a co-op we look for values-alignment before making any decisions about where @cozycometgames.bsky.social will put our time, money, and attention.
Some things are hard to say no to and they are banking on you not saying no. In fact, they'll charge you double.
Very important time to remind yourself that a for-profit company will never actually give a shit about you, your game, or your community.
Personally, I prefer to go to events that are run by devs who put their own time, money, and effort into creating things to support local ecosystems over extractive multinational corporations that put their money behind event companies run by folks who want to exploit indies but 🤷♀️
Reminder of this upcoming event on April 2!
Hey, this is the studio I co-founded! Going full cooperative has been a fun journey so far and I'm itching to show you all what we've been up to.
It was interesting explaining to Albertans "it's like a farm co-op but video games" but now we're here!
As Cozmonauts, we'll be spending the vernal equinox enjoying cute gameplay in our build together. That's right, they let social media into the build. Beware.
We are hosting an online Indie Town Hall. This will be a conversation on the future of GDX.
There will be many pieces of the event that we address as well as the ecosystem as a whole.
Come ready to be honest, constructive, and future-focused.
