Some of the ones with axes could be Ukko if you wanted, and could accept him having a daft big axe.

I like descriptive characteristics as they can cover a broad range and give a pretty free flow to the game. Just toying with the Hooded Man at the moment: adjectives, demeanour and a past profession pretty much do it.
