My (least) favorite of this one is the pattern of letter-number-letter.

I heard it was because they removed Claude Code from the Pro plan and devs had to start writing their own code again.

It's interesting (at least to me) that in the gpt-2 image the artifacts broadly seem to increase the further away you are from 1) the thing you specifically asked for and 2) text

I imagine that's some side effect on the training with specific work on making sure text is legible and clear.

It turns out I am the silly one, it was meant to count up because that was the battery life of the new 13 pro. Impressive.

Atlassian recently announced updates to how we use eligible customer data so we can deliver improved AI experiences for all customers. We designed this change with your security and privacy in mind - giving you control over your data contribution with new in-app settings and strengthening our existing privacy-preserving measures - so you can adopt AI confidently. These changes are reflected in our customer terms and will go into effect on August 17, 2026.

As part of this change, we are:

Updating how we use metadata and in-app data to improve apps and AI experiences for all customers.
Introducing new data contribution settings in Atlassian Administration, so you can manage your organization’s contributions.
Note: Initially, these settings will apply to data in Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management, including data in your Atlassian Platform apps (Rovo, Home, Teams, Projects, Assets, Goals, Analytics, and Administration).

Data contribution default settings follow the highest active plan in each Atlassian cloud organization.

Some Atlassian cloud organizations are excluded from data contribution due to their compliance requirements, so default settings are not available.

If your Atlassian organization has an active Enterprise plan, you can opt-out of metadata contribution.

If your Atlassian organization’s highest active plan is Free, Standard, or Premium, metadata contribution is always on, and you’re not able to opt-out.

All metadata is de-identified and aggregated before it is used to improve apps and experiences for all customers. We remove information that directly identifies individuals, such as name and email addresses.

You can learn more about what metadata is, how it's protected, and how it's used in the documentation.

New policy from Atlassian:

Unless you opt out by August 17th 2026, data from Jira and Confluence will automatically be used for AI training. Some data cannot be opted out at all on some plans.

I agree with this but also remember a hell of a lot of people who could code but not make art give strong opinions that "Art is dead, we have AI now, you're screwed"

I think that it's really easy for people to underestimate the amount of work that goes into making good things, no matter the medium.

A satirical poster stating that birds are in fact government surveillance drones

If we consider for a moment that birds are not real and that this 'All Birds' company is now an AI company, we may be closer to skynet than we thought.

Does Gas Town 'steal' usage from users' LLM credits & paid services to improve itself? · Issue #3649 · gastownhall/gastown gastown-release.formula.toml and beads-release.formula.toml causes local Gas Town installation to review open Issues on github.com/steveyegge/gastown/actions, burning through usage on subscribed LL...

While this should 100% be disclosed, it does open the door to an interesting vector for free software. You don't pay me any money but if you use this software I'll borrow some of your tokens to improve it.

Astral to join OpenAI Astral has entered into an agreement to join OpenAI as part of the Codex team.

Earlier this week: OpenAI calls 'code red' for working on too many projects in parallel.

Today: astral.sh/blog/openai

If this results in uv being wound down I'll be mighty annoyed.

Seeing all these DLSS 5 memes makes me wonder if game devs can detect if its turned on. Could make for a silly detective game where the underlying textures/models loaded subtly change depending on when DLSS is switched on and you need to to toggle it throughout the game to solve the mystery.

Not sure how we went from plain, straightforward words to LinkedIn speak but now you can use Kagi Translate to fit right into that crowd:

I will add that the company in the office before us who put up the quote was a recruiting firm. Which I think really characterizes the delusional mindset.

A long time ago we had an office that had a quote on the wall when we moved in from the ever wise Kanye West, "I'm too busy writing history to read it" I think these folks really do think that's true.

This reminds me of all those folks who "remake" N64 games in unreal engine thinking ray traced water and hair physics make Ocarina of Time better.

All sheen, no soul.

Building things that matter still takes effort. Toggling on the AI equivalent of RTX mode doesn't make it better software.
