Today would’ve been my dad’s 75th bday.
Managed a wee trip to Boden Boo after work today.

Friends, time to get writing. All Thi Wurd’s publications are so visually beautiful, while showcasing such excellent writing. Cool theme too!

Ooft, stay safe. It’s been ramping up since around 5am here (I’m west central Scotland) but we’re not due to get to red alert for a few more hours.

All Renfrewshire schools and council-run nurseries will be closed on Friday (24 Jan) following a Met Office red weather warning for wind.

Council buildings will be closed and bin collections cancelled during the warning, which is in place from 10am to 5pm.

It’s a magic place isn’t it? You might enjoy reading The Outrun - I’ve just finished it for my bookclub next week. It’s probably classed as a recovery memoir, but it is mostly set in Orkney and the sense of place is incredible. It will definitely make you want to visit again!

Ha yes! My son wore gloves during the -6 walk to school yesterday. Wouldn’t quite lower himself to wear a hat tho. Apparently they don’t work 🤷‍♀️

Two future possibilities of the future warming stripes - rapid action or delayed action.

Two future possibilities of the future warming stripes - rapid action or delayed action.

What will the future of the warming stripes be?

2024 could be the start of a stabilisation of global temperatures, or it might appear to be a cool year.

Which one of these stories becomes reality depends on our choices today, and every day until then.

We are likely to regret not acting sooner.

It has only been two days but we already have 22 seconds more daylight that we had on the #WinterSolstice on Saturday. 💡

By Christmas Day it will be 84 seconds more.
By the end of December it will be more than 8 minutes.
By the end of January it will be almost 2 hours. ☀️

I wrote this piece last year for my lovely dad who died very suddenly in March 2020. His funeral was one of the awful covid ones, with only a handful of us, all spaced out, so it gives me comfort to honour him in a nicer way ❤️
