What are some underrated or overrated construction innovations today? Ie: mass timber, pre-cast concrete, volumetric modular, panelized, etc.
Today FastTrackTO is officially launching and releasing our 10 point plan to modernize the Toronto Streetcar network. An iconic symbol of the city that could be fantastic with some achievable, common sense and low cost changes. The plan if implemented would transform the city.

Haha this brought back some good memories!
If you're looking to join the movement to reform elevator codes across North America, you won't want to miss it! www.sightline.org/going-up-or-...
I'm joining the legendary @stephenjacobsmith.com and others on a panel next month to talk more about elevator codes. I'm also hoping to talk a bit about how @sightline.org and I approached the writing process for the video.
This is an amazing first step! It's a shame that an elevator industry lobby group managed cut the line looking to align Washington State its elevator codes with the international standard, but allowing smaller elevators in smaller apartments is still a very meaningful change.

Elevators are a key ingredient to homebuilding. How can we get more of them?
On April 10, we’re hosting a webinar with @welcomingneighbors.us to get into it.

I'm looking for a map of night clubs in Toronto's entertainment district at its peak in the 1990s/2000s. I remember seeing it somewhere before but I forget 😅. Can anyone help?
It was pretty cool to make this with @metrovancouverorg.bsky.social. If you’ve ever wondered how we actually know our sewage is treated and safe in this region, this video breaks it down! www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLza...
My latest video with @hubcycling pulls back the curtain on how these services work, and why cities can’t seem to agree about how to treat this emerging form of transportation.
In cities like Montréal, bikeshare is fully owned and subsidized by the local government, while in other cities like Seattle, it’s operated by private startups like Lime and Bird that pay significant fees to the city.
NEW VIDEO: The Bikeshare Dilemma
Bikeshares and scootershares (also known as “Shared Micromobility) is one of the fastest growing forms of transportation on the planet today, but cities appear deeply divided on how to manage them. youtu.be/qfz6AsYycA8
Beyond honoured to get a shoutout from the legendary Tom Scott for my latest video on elevators with @sightline.org!

@andersem.bsky.social wrote a wonderful companion piece to our recent elevator video! It digs deeper into how elevator costs affect smaller apartments and explores even more ideas for reforming N America's elevator codes
A huge honour to have you share it!
🥰🥰🥰🥰 aw I love our urbanist youtuber community
For such a complicated topic, he does an amazing job making it understandable, interesting, and relevant. You may become as elevator-pilled as I am....
This video draws heavily on research by @stephenjacobsmith.com and the Centre for Building in North America. There’s a ton in his report that I couldn’t fit into this story, so I highly encourage you to check it out: www.centerforbuilding.org/publication/...
NEW VIDEO: North America’s Elevator’s Problem
Elevators are absolutely essential to modern cities..... and it turns out North America kind of sucks at them. We partnered with @sightline.org to look into the many issues plaguing our elevator industry, and what it might take to fix it.
It’ll be uploaded to YouTube!

I’ve been working on this video with HUB Cycling since last summer and I’m incredibly excited to share it with you soon! It looks at the growing divide in how cities approach bikeshare and scootershare, and the messy history of how we got to this point.
Awe thanks Brendan!
One of my first jobs growing up was helping my friend deliver the Langley Advance around our neighbourhood. Sort-of felt like a full-circle moment to be interviewed by them for this story!
Dang thank you so much!
Excited to share a new video I produced with Urbanarium on their Decoding Timber Towers competition, which challenged teams to design 8–20+ storey buildings out of wood!

Wow I LOVE the data visualization! It's cool how we landed on a similar idea for mapping the stations. I originally included a bunch of other features but thought it created too much clutter for something that ultimately just needed to show the difference in the size/quantity of both systems.
Yes!!
