No, the size of the House is set by legislation.

If the distribution of House seats was proportional, it would be a different story. As of now, all three branches represent minority rule.
Hey Mark, do you have an opinion on uncapping the size of the House to bring it in line with the Founders’ intent for the House?
The cap on the House violates the principle of one person, one vote.
With the uneven distribution of seats, some votes for representatives carry more weight. For instance, the average Delawarean has almost half the power as the average Montanan.
Hi RoombaRider,
Thanks for this critique. The point was not to suggest that Congress should have the subject matter expertise of an environmental engineer, but it was to suggest that Congress has delegated a lot of lawmaking (in the form of rulemaking) to the executive branch.

"There are now 200 million more Americans, but still the same number of representatives, which means each member of the House represents more and more people." www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
1 person cannot represent the needs of 750,000 constituents.
Should would be a shame if this went viral on this app.
“Simple” compared to other ideas that require a constitutional amendment yet get more press.
We've outgrown our House.
Our population has more than tripled while the size of the House has remained at 435 Members. In the past, we enlarged the House as the population grew.
It's time to let it grow again, and we can do it with a simple piece of legislation.

George Washington thought it should be 30,000 people per Congressional District. James Madison thought the upper limit should be 50,000.
Small, your representative would be someone you might actually know. A HS principal, a local union rep, the old timer at a local hardware store.
435 is arbitrary.
435 is unrepresentative.
435 breaks the constitution.
435 needs to go.
It used to be super easy to find fellow Uncappers on the timeline and now it feels impossible.
Not sure if this is the fix but it’s nice to see an attempt.
Elected Representatives >>> Unelected Bureaucrats
Unfortunately, the cap on the House has ballooned the federal government because Congress has had to delegate work that was previously done in-house.
Republicans have the opportunity to Make Politics Local Again by uncapping the size of the House and re-allowing remote voting, so members of Congress spend more time in the communities they represent.
We are a movement to remove the 435 cap on the US House of Representatives by 2029, the 100-year anniversary of the cap.
