After the Steel Legion MTO I have a little pot of Christmas bonus money stashed in case Mordians ever come out...

Ah interesting, I was just reading about Lizardmen recently and I'm on the hunt for a new Old World army! It would probably be plastic though I do remember that incredible Stegadon.

Are there any classic armies you never collected or had back in the day, that you'd love to do for the first time if there was a surprise MTO? For me it'd be Tallarns, they'd make a great army.

Oh I love Praetorians, that would look so good in a firing line! Big fan of the metal Cadians as well, I regret selling mine now.

Thank you Pietr!

Thanks Nick! Can't wait to get paint on some more...

That would be very cool. Thanks for the ideas! They've gone in my scrapbook...

Hmm yes that could work! Where would you put the hazard stripes then? Just making some notes as I love the idea and it'd be fairly quick to paint.

Thanks! Trying to decide on a colour scheme for the tanks now...

I've had some of most things over the years (except Tallarns), these are some that I've wanted for ages. It feels great to finally be getting the project underway!

Thanks! I did a Heresy Militia army in white tunics as well, they're very cool but wanted to lean more into the classic side of things here.

Yes that's the plan, on Cityfight bases as well so I'll also be taking inspiration from that Warzone book as well!

On a family trip in 1999, my brother passed me the 40K rulebook which he'd borrowed off a friend. It was this page, of this copy, of this book, that I first opened and fell in love with the Mordian Iron Guard.

A few test Mordians for my new retro 40K project. Replicated the original colour scheme pretty closely except for white gloves and belts which I always think look dashing. Very happy with the result!

I was reminiscing about Inquisitor the other day and remembering how much fun I had playing it as a kid. So I decided to pick up a model of Slick Devlan, my favourite character.

Thank you! Yes I was a bit uncertain about the colour proportions (it looked too blue and not white enough in the sketches I did) but I think it's worked out. I'm just eyeing up a third, paranoid that they will be OOPd soon...

Yep definitely. The Hellbrute kit is showing its age now, but if it was replaced I bet it wouldn't have the angular design language of things like this and the Brass Scorpion. Ah I want a Brass Scorpion now...

Thanks mate! Yeah I really like the spiky angular look they have, over the smoother and more mutated look of the Hellbrute (or even the new Defiler for that matter). Bought these quickly as I'm sure they'll go OOP soon.

My second Decimator is done and ready to add to the World Eaters army! Can't wait to get stuck in with these.

Now I'm even more interested haha, I did a Siege of Terra Blood Angels army, one that's gone mad after Sanguinius' death and is now in a berserk rage. Loving the sound of them.

It's a solid technique and looks good. Thanks for sharing mate!

And this is my other first favourite photo. The Blood Angels are a lovely legion to play and Mk III marines make them look even more ornate and archaic. Splendid work sir.

Ok this is my first favourite photo of the thread. Big fan of skeleton warriors and these are very nicely painted...

Cunning plan - I'm going to use the Solar Auxilia Quad Launchers. Possibly on a normal Chimera platform but possibly on a 30K-type Basilisk (ie Leman Russ) hull. And going for a fairly mixed force that's been whittled down, so just a couple of squads. Hoping the heavy weapons compensate!

I have a name... the 38th Mordian, and a concept - classic Cityfight in the traditional blue colours. I've done a 2,000pt 3rd Edition list to start with, but will probably play it most using a version of Horus Heresy (where things are slightly cheaper so I'll need another tank to make it up to 2k).

Lovely looking board and armies, thanks for sharing. Dwarves are so tough, I love playing them.

Haha well as someone who's sat down planning a classic Mordian army right now, I can absolutely get on board with some unashamed nostalgia!

To be fair I don't think this is just a Warhammer problem. When I was a kid a PC game was £20, and you could get a beer and a burger for £4. Prices have gone up, but I still think this is good value compared to some other hobbies I used to have which I've dropped (pub, gambling etc).

It looks gorgeous, very nice work indeed! I really hope they do.

Oh wow! That looks superb, exactly the sort of thing I'm trying to do. Is that scratch built or 3D printed?

I did notice that, I wondered if it was due to the age of mine. I'll have to be reverential!
