Most segregation research examines neighborhoods, schools, or workplaces separately. But do individuals' exposure align across domains and persist over the life course? We fill this gap using 27 years of 🇸🇪 data.

A recent Swedish paper shows attenuating sibling correlations at high parental earnings, meaning more mobility at the top. But the gradient in children’s earnings by parental earnings is steep. Add the mean component and the conclusion becomes more, not less, persistence at the top.

Splitting sibling correlations (ICCs) by parental rank quietly conditions out the mean advantage that is intergenerational reproduction. Group-specific (within) ICCs aren’t “total family influence” when you split by parental rank—they’re residual sibling similarity around group means.

The commentary examines an article studying the relationship between (aggregate) immigration levels and crime in Sweden. I review the article and show that its conclusion is not supported by the results presented.

This is a commentary on an article desk-rejected without feedback. The concerns warrant substantive engagement by the journal. JIMI is part of Springer Nature yet it does not seem to implement their “Matters Arising” policy in practice or consistently follow COPE standards.

When I submitted this paper, I couldn’t have guessed I’d soon join @europeansocreview.bsky.social as Associate Editor. Glad to see it published in print now, with great company from some other authors I’ve edited over the past year.

Pay gap between nationals and migrants mainly due to unequal access to high-paying jobs Recognizing foreign qualifications and providing language training could improve immigrants’ access to better-paying positions.

Excited to see our paper on the immigrant–native pay gap featured in @nature.com’s new policy brief pilot, please take a look!
