I'm on Team @harrowcyclehub.bsky.social in this year's Hatch End Triathlon.
We are raising funds to buy a 2-seater trike for Wheels for All - a local initiative that makes cycling accessible to people of all abilities.

I agree there should be a ban. I also think process, evidence and considered policy making matters.
I personally hope a ban is introduced. I respect that process matters and getting input improves policy.
In the meantime, reserve your anger for the social media barons and their factories of addiction and harm.
And do read the World Happiness Report on this subject www.worldhappiness.report
The widespread criticism of the government for consulting on social media policy is frankly bizarre.
It is entirely right and proper to gather evidence and consider what steps to take carefully because we, our society, needs an approach that works.

🧵With EU relations and alignment back in the news most Brits say, across a series of areas, they want at least a slightly closer relationship with Europe than the one Britain has at the moment.
I was born in Harrow and have lived here for most of my life.
As a community we are united in our diversity and our politicians - and aspiring politicians - should embody this spirit.
Peace and tolerance are hard won. We must continue to stand up for these values together.
Let the work of change begin.
I'll be flying the flag for Labour in Pinner at the upcoming local elections alongside Jeff Anderson and Christine Robson.
I grew up just down the road in Rayners Lane and previously served as a Harrow Councillor, as have Jeff and Christine.

Proud of 6 productive years at APDH during which we were able to raise the voice and influence of Directors of Public Health.
Hope new CEO brings a razor sharp focus on partnerships and policy, as part of a wider coalition to improve health and wellbeing - and reduce inequalities - across the UK.
Let's put cycling on the agenda #harrowelections26.
🚲 LCC's campaign Streets for Cycling is calling on local election candidates to make cycling safe everywhere and fun for everyone! 👨👩👧👦
🧑💻 Email & ask your candidates to pledge to build a safe local cycle network today action.lcc.org.uk/streets.
There are moments when power shifts. These must be seized for the public good.
It took too long to take the fight to big tobacco, let's not make the same mistake with big tech.

Social media harm is a public health crisis, the smoking of our times.
Waiting for a perfect evidence base means more unhappiness and addiction.
We need a quick trial, a fast consultation and bold action.

Was delighted to host yesterday the first APPG for Wellbeing Economics meeting of 2026.
In the session leading academics took us through the overwhelming data that unrestricted access to social media is harming children.
We will be feeding in to the Government's current review.
We want to ensure these new insights are part of the conversation about the government's live consultation on social media policy www.gov.uk/government/c...
There is no silver bullet to improve wellbeing, but action on social media harms is an essential part of the picture.
Through the APPG on Wellbeing Economics, which the World Wellbeing Movement provides the secretariat for, we will be engaging with politicians about social media and wellbeing.
This year the @worldhappiness.report Report explores social media and wellbeing.
Social media use, in respect of both time spent and type of platforms, appears to contribute to a fall in wellbeing among people in the UK.
Deeply disappointing. Public support is clear and Parliament risks being out of step.
Due to the righteousness of the cause and the growing chorus for change, it is a matter of when not if.
Regrettable, but its not credible to freeze council tax given the significant funding pressures and the understandable expectations from residents for cleaner streets, effective community leadership and support for those who need it #harrowelections26 www.harrowtimes.co.uk/news/2592098...

These words can be seen on street signs, bins, and the uniforms of council staff, but are they at the heart of Harrow Council's culture, leadership, policy and investment decisions?
A new vision for Harrow - 'Harrowism': wellbeing first.
The motto of the London Borough of Harrow Council is "Salus populi suprema lex", which is Latin for "The wellbeing of the people is the highest law".
This is a bright North Star to root our ambitions and inspire change both within the Council and across the community.
Harrow has many strengths - from our Metroland history to the many parks and green spaces and the diversity of the people.
Hoping for a positive conversation at the local elections about building on these. The wellbeing - of people, place and economy - should be centre stage.

Looking forward to reading the World Happiness Report 2026.
New insights on social media and wellbeing will be invaluable in light of the UK government's live consultation on social media.

I am not against local authorities issuing fines for violations. But the system should be fair and proportionate, as well as operating within legal parameters and relevant government guidance. Where this is shown not to be the case it is reasonable and right to challenge it.
