Part of what's gotta separate Art from Content is the reason for its creation. "People asked for it" makes financial sense. It doesn't answer *why it exists* from any artistically meaningful angle.

Cave Story (2004) title screen.
On the subject of beloved indie games, Cave Story feels great to play, has an enjoyable story and cast, really nice music, and some cool secrets to uncover… An all-around solid 2D action-platformer deserving of the status of “classic” I think!
