So I completed my first stand-up comedy set ever. It was for science for Georgia and it’s mostly about identity and processing issues. Enjoy it, if you like: youtu.be/PY1RLzVJ8Dg

Following up on my own query to say that there’s a great documentary called Group Therapy on Amazon prime. Neil Patrick Harris hosts a group of comics who talk about mental health issues.

I mean, I have truly had some moments of panic about this performance. I dug up my ignite talk just to boost my morale because there are a few things that were as terrifying as that. youtu.be/9wzStO4-uG8

I am dying because I posted about my comedy show (my first ever) to a list of psychologists and this other psychology group contacted me and offered me a slot for some event they’re having.

So like now, I’m getting comedy gigs? Sight unseen.?

A friend once asked me if I was a perfectionist. I said I couldn’t possibly be a perfectionist because I imagined a perfectionist would actually do things way better than I ever do. Hmmm.

Weird question for the Bluesky world: does anyone have any comics they like who joke about trauma and abuse in a way that you actually find funny? Please share.

“Screenshot of a promoted Reddit post by u/AYAGDOS. The post reads: ‘Navigating gender dysphoria? Join our confidential, cross-country study of 18–25 year olds to tell your story, challenge preconceptions, and have YOUR experience reflected in the science.’ Below is a banner graphic with the Northwestern University logo and the text ‘TRANS OR GENDERQUEER? SHARE YOUR STORY.’ The image shows a close-up of a hand with light pink nail polish, partially painted blue, held up against a blurred background. A link to ayagdos.org and a ‘Learn More’ button appear at the bottom, along with Reddit vote and share icons.”

If you see this, don't participate. It's a rigged study by Lisa Littman and unethical researcher J. Michael Bailey meant to undermine access to care. Spread the word.

I am working on an 8 minute TED talk which happens to be the same month I am going to do a 6 minute stand up comedy performance. They are both on the same topic. What could possibly go wrong?

If you're in Massachusetts, please call @elizabethwarren.bsky.social's office and beg her to change her mind about supporting #KOSA. This bill would silence LGBTQIA+ voices on the internet. They're claiming it's been fixed — it hasn't been. #politics

Those out there looking for #APPIC internship essay examples, I have made mine available at the link below. Russ Marks and I are working on preparing a curated collection of examples, where some evem include annotation. Keep an eye out for that!

Is it hard for you to migrate to new social media platforms, bc people you want to follow are still only posting on some other platform?

Thank Facebook. Its CFAA suit against Power Ventures made this problem much harder to solve.

Ugh. I am hoping my appointment (two weeks out at Kaiser Georgia) is seamless.

I would just like to put it out there on psychology bluesky that accessibility and health equity is one of our ethical standards. If anyone would like to partner with me in being an agent of change in this regard, I can think of nothing more powerful! ✊🏼

I was recently invited to give. Keynote talk at a psychology convention. I explained that I haven’t presented in four years, but I would be interested if they would partner and me in making it accessible with masking, testing, and air filtration. They were unable to do this.

I would hypothesize that the dogs would eat you out of love and to incorporate your essence as an inner representation of you. Whereas the cats just don’t give a shit and if you’re dead, you’re now food. (I am being sarcastic but maybe there is a kernel of truth?)

I only realized this because someone commented on the video and asked “Do you also offer workshops on flashing neon lights?” And I still can’t stop laughing about it. (But if they hadn’t commented, that wacky video would still be up!!) 2/2.

I tried to do my first Instagram reel to promote my workshop. Accidentally added an effect with flashing color lights. Deleted the video a minute later and fixed. I on Facebook last night and realized that it posted to Facebook. 1/2

I once had a friend who had an interaction with someone at a store about how to stand in a line. The person finally said, “Nice emotional intelligence!” to insult my roommate. He and I cracked up and used that line for years.

We spend a lot of time telling kids that they can be whoever they want to be, but I think it might be more important to tell them that they can be who they are

Woke up at 6:30am to do last minute studying for GA psychology exam. Showed up for 10am test with required ID’s (physical passport) and state issued driver’s license (digital). Was turned away because they require physical license. But this wasn’t specified In instructions. Ugh! 😣
