Prevention of Violence Against Women Week is a reminder that too many #women and #girls in BC experience #genderbasedviolence, often in silence. Changing this requires all of us to challenge harmful attitudes, speak out, and build systems rooted in safety and respect.

Stopping drugs at the distribution level cuts into the funding that drives gang violence. This is a powerful, tangible result of the Province’s $100 million annual investment in integrated enforcement. Our thanks to the officers involved and all partners for their work in Surrey and across B.C.
A proactive traffic stop by @CFSEUBC's Uniform Gang Enforcement Team in Surrey led to the seizure of 3.5 kilograms of drugs — including over 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl — and the arrest of two individuals, one of whom has been referred to @CanBorder for immigration enforcement.
Hate has no place in our communities. We'll keep backing the officers who fight it.

One year ago, we invested in expanding the BC Hate Crime Unit from 2 officers to a team of 8. Today, that investment is working — the team has gone from reviewing 140 files a month to 140 files a week, and has reached over 1,550 people through education and outreach.
And how similarly coordinated approaches can help address chronic property offenders in communities across B.C.
I value the ongoing partnership with the City of Terrace as we continue this critical work together.
Today, I met with Terrace Mayor Sean Bujtas to discuss public safety priorities and continued collaboration.
We discussed ongoing work through the Repeat Violent Offenders Intervention Initiative...

Investigations like this are made possible by our Provincial Tactical Enforcement Priority program, which directs resources to the highest-harm targets across B.C. Two individuals are now in custody and before the courts.
I want to thank Chilliwack @BCRCMP, @CFSEUBC, Health Canada chemists, and the federal RCMP's CLEAR team for their critical work safely dismantling this lab — including bringing in out-of-province hazmat experts to handle one particularly dangerous chemical on site.
Over 39 kilograms of fentanyl and analogues, more than 391,000 doses, along with 5,000+ kilograms of chemical precursors and a fully operational pill press were seized from a production site on South Sumas Road. A linked seizure in November recovered an additional 50 kilograms of fluorofentanyl.
This week, Chilliwack RCMP confirmed the full scale of a major drug seizure from a clandestine lab taken down in October 2025.
Thank you to the community members and organizations who joined Speaker Chouhan and MLAS in the Hall of Honour of the BC Leg to mark Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Thank you to Lillian Boraks-Nemetz for sharing your testimony and insights with us – your words will stay with us, always.

Surrey's communities are safer today because of the work of Surrey Police and their partners. Over four months, a BC-funded SITE operation in resulted in 136 arrests, 54 weapons seized, and 55 charges recommended — targeting the repeat offenders who cause the most harm.
Today we recognized Emergency Service Dispatchers and 9-1-1 Awareness Week in British Columbia. Every day, emergency dispatchers serve as the vital first point of contact for people in crisis. Your dedication saves lives, strengthens our communities, and exemplifies public service at its very best.
This evening, Jewish people around the world will light candles and remember those murdered in the Holocaust. Yom HaShoah calls on everyone to remember and reflect. We honour the six million people killed by the Nazis in a systematic attempt to annihilate Jewish people.

This is what $100M in annual gang enforcement funding delivers. Thank you to all the officers involved for your work to make Surrey safer.
As long as gangs threaten communities in B.C., we will keep investing in the people who stop them. Last month in Surrey, @CFSEUBC UGET officers made arrests and seized a firearm, drugs, cash, and devices during proactive patrols.
🏫 🧑🏫Happy Education Week! We’re celebrating all of the teachers, support staff members, administrators, parent volunteers, and trustees who work tirelessly to help students succeed. Thank you!
As B.C.’s Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, I am deeply committed to this work and am guided by Indigenous communities and the families of the missing and murdered. Together, we must continue the work needed to ensure all people are safe and protected from violence. (4/4)
We spoke about the work our government is doing to support Indigenous-led solutions and continue implementing “A Path Forward,” B.C.’s response to the MMIWG Calls for Justice (3/4).
I was also honoured to sit down with families who have lost loved ones — to listen to their stories and acknowledge their tireless advocacy (2/4).
Yesterday I attended the 20th Anniversary of the Highway of Tears Symposium in Prince George, where I joined a meaningful public safety dialogue on justice, accountability and safety for MMIWG2S+ alongside my federal counterpart Minister Gary Anandasangaree (1/4).
Criminals continue to use new technology to break the law. B.C.'s enforcement teams are staying ahead of it and working hard to keep our communities safe.
Outstanding work by @cfseubc's Illegal Firearms Enforcement Team. A clandestine 3D-printed firearms lab in Surrey has been dismantled — a loaded rifle, six handguns, four suppressors, and three printers seized.

Donald Trump’s loss is British Columbia’s gain.
Thousands of US doctors, nurses and health professionals are applying to work in BC, because our system is based on the needs of the patient — not their ability to pay.
BC now has more doctors per person than anywhere else in Canada.
