Peut-être que ça va devenir gênant d’être anti-vélo.
Featuring some very important quotes from @amykmtl.bsky.social. Please read.
Ahead by a Century came out 30 years ago today. I don’t think anyone knew then how much it would mean now…@thetragicallyhip.bsky.social ❤️
Having an angine de poitrine moment, and not the good kind…
Many years ago on a late Montreal night I was standing outside Brutopia with friends, smoking a joint. A man walks by, and in the most Simpsons way ever I say "Look! It's former Monkee Micky Dolenz!" He came over, joined us, and then came back to the bar. Happy 4/20! www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9pU...
Last year on 4/20 I saw Jerry on the mountain

80 years ago today in his Montreal Royals debut Jackie Robinson homered and was greeted at the plate with a handshake from George “Shotgun” Shuba.
"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives" - Jackie Robinson
*in Montreal. Dang it. Sorry about the typo, Jackie.
JD Vance is lecturing the Pope on Catholicism and Pierre Poilievre is lecturing Mark Carney on economics and RFK Jr is lecturing scientists about vaccines and Donald Trump is lecturing the world on tariffs and Pete Hegseth is quoting Pulp Fiction and thinking it’s the Bible

I wrote this thread last year about how Ken Griffey Jr was instrumental in Jackie Robinson Day. This year, like every year, MLB will celebrate itself for Jackie overcoming the racism they themselves instituted. But wearing 42 was a player-led movement that honored him as a human and THAT matters.
Ken Griffey Jr swinging a bat wearing all-black cleats, knee-high socks, and number 42.
That day, April 15, 1997 the Mariners were playing the second of a 2-game series in Cleveland. Nobody suspected anything until Ken Griffey Jr took the field wearing all-black cleats, knee-high socks, and number 42.
He was the first player to change his number to honor Jackie Robinson on April 15.
I got to write about Jackie Robinson last year for @theprogressivemag.bsky.social, after the Pentagon deemed an article on his Army service to be "D.E.I." After many many complaints The Pentagon reversed the purge and restored the article. progressive.org/latest/penta...

Abraham Lincoln died from an assassin's bullet on April 15, 1865.
82 years later, on April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African American to play Major League Baseball.

Jackie Robinson only spent the summer of ‘46 Montreal, but what a summer it was. He left quite the mark on my city. #JackieRobinsonDay
The MLB-approved statement the teams’ broadcasters are reading about Jackie Robinson Day is an embarrassment. Jackie didn’t face “adversity” — he faced loud, violent, entrenched racism. He integrated baseball & saved it from collapsing in on itself. Say that.

While Jackie Robinson isn't here to be acknowledged on the day named after him, do you know who is?
Mrs. Rachel Robinson herself.
Who will be turning 104 in July.
And she still serves on the board of the Jackie Robinson Foundation
On this Jackie Robinson Day, 3 monuments and mentions in Montreal:
