I've now been an assistant professor at SFU for a year now! It's been an exciting but busy time - glad to see the research lab coming along.

Balancing all the demands across teaching, research, and service can be hard at times but very rewarding as well.

Still lots to learn!

Yes please! As a new PI, I am finding that my time is too easily soaked up in administrative busy work and meetings about meetings.

Absolutely awful to hear the news coming out re: US federal agency workers and freeze on US federal grants.

These executive orders impact some great people that are doing important jobs that really benefit society.

Unfortunate to see the (yet again) wild decisions from the Trump White House.

Should be a great project for folks interested in quantitative ecology, Pacific salmon conservation and management, and co-developing research.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

I'm aiming to develop a lab handbook next semester to provide a resource on field and lab safety training, research expectations, funding and scholarship opportunities, EDI measures, managing collaborations, etc.

Any tips or resources folks want to share would be most helpful!

In a recent paper, we tested the idea that Gulf of Mexico Bluefin Tuna mature and spawn at later ages than the Mediterranean.

In general, we found similar patterns between populations but tremendous variation among individuals.
