A handful of years ago Nick was “the future of epic fantasy” w/Mercenary King trilogy. Starts w/ THE KINGDOM OF LIARS. Is great.

Now, curtain rises on Act II, w/ Nick’s editor comparing him to Ray Bradbury.

Different comps, same great Nick. TERMINA STATION will have you missing your train stop.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Firestorm, and am happy as a Hyena that this new first issue is more killer than a Killer Frost

the multiplex of talent who worked on it includes Jeff Lemire, Rafael de Latorre, Marcelo Maiolo and Lucas Gattoni

A ★★★★ review of Our Hero, Balthazar (2025) Even reading a few reviews, I simply wasn’t prepared for how dark the movie is - or, for that matter, how good it is.  A powerful movie about empty lives, damaged souls, and false fronts, and for all ...

Just posted **** reviews of The Drama and of the one linked below

last weekend a 20 mile walk, this weekend five movies (all in theatres) in one day.

The even better thing - not one of the five movies was a dud. All at least equaled expectations

Just in time for tonight’s Oscar festivities, my Ten Best of 2025.

Right this moment, I’m posting with the films listed, and I’ll be going in to add comments to each entry later, and will re-post when finished.

There’s one movie to rule them all from 2025, and that’s Sinners.

The Muppet Show return is quite quite satisfying. And I was one of the eldest people in the crowd watching - the Muppets work across many many generations. People half my age who’d downed every episode like they’d been Survivor binging or something.

Very muppetational

At least the Washington Post makes it relatively easy to cancel a subscription. I only had to click once, then twice, then thrice.

But now I need something else that’s good to read, because we should all get news from multiple sources.

Not eager to give Rupert my money.

But you’re not saying we should keep reading The Washington Post, Dalton? Are you??

Reading yes, but reading the desiccated husk of the Post should be a hard No.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Jenette Kahn becoming the publisher at DC Comics, an absolute watershed moment in American comics history, both business-wise and creatively.

A ★★★★ review of Islands (2025) The best 2026 release to date. It’s really good moviemaking.  A glance from a character hiding in the background twenty feet away. A brief few frames of a caress of someone’s back, just barely longer ...

Islands.

The first 2026 release that could
contend forYear’s Best
