Haha absolutely

Kidney failure left and right from the quantity of spices in the beef mince

Not infrequent Steaming piles of fresh fifth quarter bits and cleaning them

A quantity of beets 🫜 and onions 🧅 that I believe would literally kill someone not used to it

The use of fruit and sugar is savory dishes and general lack of distinction between sweet and savory foods

People talk about how a modern food would kill a medieval peasant but vice versa

A soup with so much collagen it’s solid at room temperature

A soup or sauce that’s almost only wild bitter spring herbs

Home cultured butter 🧈 that tastes like cheese

Bread you literally cannot bite through…

the walls surrounding it have little baby espaliered trees on them, you can't see them yet but when they're big they'll be a solid wall of leaves in the summer. and i'm going to do a ton of bulbs under them too i think

This part is less necessary:

In the winter I cut the tops off at around 5-6’ all the canes that will fruit the coming year

That forces more flowering buds lower down and more fruit

After they have fruited (or in winter) Cut back to the ground whatever canes fruited the past year (or anything even older) and the canes that grew this year will fruit next year

Once I started doing this our patches became very abundant

America’s Most Famous Bean Club Is Getting Litigious With Other Legume Leagues Rancho Gordo’s “bean club” strives to be the only one using those eight letters, in that order.

Bean Clubs have been around since the 1800's,
as have people who share seeds.
The 4-H Club has had a Bean Club since the 1930's.
#RanchoGordo, a corporation, has now copywrited the name and apparently the term and are threatening people who use the term.
so nasty, so uncool.

behold our enormous feasting table (imagine a tall wooden fence also behind the raspberries instead of the chain link, that's coming later this summer)

A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”

Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

In a crowded Ten Forward, Will Riker stands in the middle of the room playing his trombone. To the right is Zoot of the Electric Mayhem playing along on saxophone. Beverly Crusher is standing just behind Riker looking impressed. A man in civilian clothing is just behind her looking like he is very much enjoying the entertainment. Geordi La Forge is standing to the far right, arms crossed as he listens to the duo.

lads had a really great birthday. grandma and grandpa and uncle kyle and aunt caitlin all came to visit and showered them with fun new toys and they had cake and ice cream and then they got to go out for pizza. pretty good stuff if you're three

My peppers, along with some impulse buy peppers from the produce stand, moved into the greenhouse today. They're still really small, but I think they'll get going now. The cardboard floor is not great, but I don't know when I'll get to the bricks so I might have to do something "temporary" 😬

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
