BAD ENOUGH to be the sort of person to order Josh brand Sauvignon blanc by name (JOSH! BY NAME!) but omfg you are nominally in line of presidential succession (11th, one spot above RFK Jr) you call it “josh sauvi B” Jesus HMF Christ in heaven. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/15/u...

Additional fact: If you earned OT pay, this was likely not part of your W-2 this year so you have to go back through your own paystubs, figure out your own OT earnings and then divide by 3 to figure out your untaxed wages.

Today’s facts brought to you by my $453 in untaxed OT pay last year.

Fun tax day fact: “No taxes on overtime” actually means no taxes on the “and a half” part of “time and a half.”

So if your regular pay is $30/hour, and you get paid 10 hours OT in a week, your regular pay is $1200 and your OT pay is $450. But your taxable income is $1,500 and untaxed is $150.

This was, of course, after her affairs with Joseph Kennedy (JFK’s dad) and Roald Dahl (who was honeytrapping her at the behest of the British government), among others.

I think everyone has a version in their head (with a lot of ALL CAPS) of the post that 2013 Lindy West would write about the 2026 Lindy West memoir. And it’s no where near as nice as the Scaachi Koul piece lol.

These hips are, and have always been, velvet hips. But I love satin for other people!

Honestly going to spend some time intellectually with this coat. I have never coveted a designer piece until now.

Nothing more poly than explaining to as many people as possible how *evolved* you are emotionally.

Also not every choice a feminist makes is “a feminist choice.” It’s just a choice by a feminist.

Beyond that, friends and enemies, everyone has to make compromises to exist as a human in a capitalist kyriarchy and you’re best served in life by acknowledging the imperfections of the compromises you are definitely making.

I have a lot of thoughts about The Discourse about (whispers) *that* memoir (sigh) but mostly they boil down to my general editor’s note on the genre, which is that you can’t write one to make people understand you qua you, but the best ones help readers understand themselves.

My fucking alma mater once again showing that the quality education I got came despite the salaries they paid all those useless lickspittle administrators.

Still not fucking donating.

Betrayal of Identity - Truthdig Gisèle Pelicot reckons with the brutal memories of sexual violence in her memoir “A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides."

I had a lot of thoughts about the (very well written, thoughtful) Pelicot memoir, foremost among them her struggle (at 69!) to figure out who she was if her happy life had been a lie. www.truthdig.com/articles/bet...

Betrayal of Identity - Truthdig Gisèle Pelicot reckons with the brutal memories of sexual violence in her memoir “A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides."

"Giséle wrote that it was not an easy process to rebuild her life, especially because she felt that women of her generation were taught to prize a romantic relationship over everything else."

lol, I took the SATs more than 30 years ago. He took them at some point before *1969* (when he started college) so his were like *60* years ago!! He’s old enough to be my dad lmfao.

What must your life be to still:
A. Remember your SAT scores
B. Be impressed with your SAT scores
C. Think your SAT scores are an indicator of your professional qualifications as an adult
D. Think about other people’s SAT scores in relation to your own
E. Not know how much the SAT scoring changed

You could give me a shit ton of money and a fancy UES mansion and I would also be like “it ain’t Astoria.” If you don’t live here, you don’t know. Not everyone aspires to what you think the apex of New York life is because some of us have our Sesame Street.

Oh, yeah, sheer volume of crushed up recyclables blown into my driveway is at 10 year highs. (Moved here in 2015.) Also the trash trucks blocking evening traffic randomly is way up the last few years.

It improved astronomically under BdB. Like, day-of plowing for the first time since I moved to NYC (and I came from Virginia, my standards were low). But the trash trucks are the plows! And honestly I think Adam’s fucked up with his back and forth on composting, all vibes, no planning.

Trash pickup is meh (bad after a storm) but plowing in our area remains miles ahead of when Bloomberg made sure Manhattan was bare roads but fucked the boroughs (esp Queens).
