I once had a Hungarian co-worker who was both (a) an incredible human being and (b) exasperated by the political setting at the time.

I hope she's dancing today

Iranians as a people are warm, hospitable, generous, thoughtful, and everyone is a well educated and can recite poetry. I hope someday to visit in person. I am so sorry to everyone there for our insane and genocidal leadership. I am sorry the world does not defend you.

This Sunday, March 29, is the last day to see our exhibit Roots and Resilience: Chinese American Heritage in Oregon. It's been our honor to explore the stories and resilience of the early Chinese immigrant community in Oregon. Come see it before it closes! 🏛️🏺

Every picture of ICE agents in airports is just this again

ICE agents will steal 100% of the cash and valuables you have with you at airports. I recommend STRONGLY that you travel with faux silver wedding bands vs your gold+ diamond rings, no cash, wear cheap watches, leave jewelry at home, etc. They are rapist Nazi thieves. Expect the worst.

This whole concept in LOTR is one of my favourite parts of the whole book. “Evil fucks up because evil people fundamentally cannot imagine that others are not motivated by the same things as them” is another theme that feels relevant right now

I know we all dream of guillotines but this makes me think we should also bring back stockades while we're at it. Throwing rotten food at Sam here would fix me just a little bit.

I am so tired of fragile little men starting wars. I am so tired of fragile little men making policy decisions that harm us all. I am so tired of fragile little men doing horrendous harm to children and expecting us all to forget about it. I am so tired of fragile little men with their tantrums.

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

- Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist

Apparently robbing women of their past, present, and future in their own country is simply not enough for these monsters.

We are supposed to feel sick with grief. Comfort comes with the rituals around death and being with family and loved ones and sitting with the memories of those lost at their graves/ every day etc. Grief makes us human. It shows our capacity for love and resilience. Let me live with it.
