Outrageous. (Also, this figure makes a 33% drop look like a 105% drop)

What AI Can’t Do AI may replace narrow technical skills, but the liberal arts equip students with the critical thinking employers increasingly demand.

The case for the liberal arts just got a lot stronger, writes @wildavsky.bsky.social.

"Students should be free to make up their own mind, but in order to be free to do so, they must be exposed to different ideas. We can't just expose them to conservative ideology approved by the board of regents or the governor of Texas."

If HB580 passes in Alabama, it will eviserate academic freedom in the state & shift all control over higher ed curriculum & tenure to partisan politicians.

This bill isn't about accountability; it’s about censorship & the dismantling of intellectual independence, innovation & progress.

I spent 6 months there with my two young sons while conducting fieldwork in Isfahan in 2002, and went back and forth many times. Iran is one of my favorite places on earth and the Iranian people embody the meaning of hospitality. This insanity must stop!

Humans Are Wonderfully Varied. Scholars Shouldn’t Let the Government Say Otherwise. - Science Politics Academics have a responsibility to speak up when misrepresented scientific work about race, sex, and gender shapes policy.

NSF getting rid of SBE is total capitulation before a budget is approved. Intended to silence science that reveals the lies of the administration. Scholars in these areas need to speak up in the classroom, hallways, and in public! sciencepolitics.org/2026/03/25/h...

Paige Amormino - Saving SBE starts before the bill is written. Right now, NSF SBE does not have its own separate line of funding in the FY2027 budget structure. This matters because if SBE is not specifically protected ...

Saving SBE starts before the bill is written.

SBE needs a distinct FY27 appropriation. If your sch. is on the list, get a group of colleagues to meet w your House/Sen. offices. Esp. for Republican seats, direct constituent comms matter. Timeline/templates/updates:

Yeah, thanks. I do get contacted reporters all the time, cuz there's always some new scandal that comes out! Like the Thai women trafficked to Cyprus and kept in a dorm who had no idea they were there to have their eggs extracted!

And yes, the realities of the entire egg donation process, from donor selection, to how human eggs are bought, sold, and distributed, and the lack of research on risks and lack of informed consent... The way in which neocapitalism operates through young women's bodies.

Yeah, while it certainly cuts cost for those who want to freeze, there's no guarantee that the eggs you keep are the same quality as the ones you share. Plus higher dosages to increase quantity lead to higher risks. But donating for pay 10K++, is also coercive.

I really needed to read this reframing of ADHD. As a person who is extremely curious it resonated and helped me connect some dots: It's not that I'm incapable of focusing, but there's so much to learn and explore! When my brain is not learning, it wants to move on! Great piece @neuranne.bsky.social
