I think in many cases that’s true. In some cases, I think it is inexperience. We all have those first stories that have to get torn apart. Otherwise, how would we learn?

This is such a great point. Reader cheating is why so many books and films are a let down. We want to be surprised, we want an ending to catch us off guard (especially if we've been writing for a while) but it can't be something completely unreasonable.

I’m sorry Nat. Not my intention. I adore this story. I think in my mind, the story is about the journey, not the destination. You have SUCH a gift for immersive writing that you could send a reader anywhere! It’s the journey and a mushroom story is perfect!
