The most famous hunting behaviour for cuttlefish is the Broadclub Cuttlefish's (Ascarosepion latimanus) "passing-stripe" display.

The cuttlefish will extend its arms and create a pattern of downward moving stripes, which confuses prey long enough for the cuttlefish to strike.

🚨Very happy that my PhD work is now out in @nature.com!

We discovered that evolution, by acting in the midbrain, shifted the threshold to escape in Peromyscus mice, to fine-tune defensive strategies in different environments

The other day I had the fantastic opportunity to talk with 7th graders about genomes, brains and evolution 🧬🧠 πŸ¦‘ thanks to @skypeascientist.bsky.social.
As is usually the case, I was amazed by the kids questions.
They even sent me these beautiful artworks :’)
