a whole lot of very good looking ereaders going back to the dawn of Kobo ereading in 2010
Today’s burning question: how long does Kobo support its ereaders? And by support I mean how long they get updates, patches, security updates, and bug fixes to keep working.
Short answer: a freakishly long time. Long answer below. 🧵

Keeping album art in Apple Music modest in public. - hmhrex/modest-apple-music
I’m working in an office now after working from home for nearly 6 years. There have been a lot of adjustments, but one I didn’t expect was the anxiety of someone seeing album artwork on my monitor while I browsed my Apple Music library. So I made this: github.com/hmhrex/modes...

Screenshot of the series tracker page - it shows that I am following the Hierarchy series by James Islington, plus the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Both of them have a new book coming out in the future 👀
We shipped a new feature on @hardcover.app recently - the long-awaited series tracker! It lets you see your in-progress book series, plus which ones have upcoming releases.

One of the best to revisit too! I think I’ve looped through the first 7 or so seasons 2 or 3 times.

Don’t attempt to explain. Show. Pull up their statements from then and contrast it with what’s happening now. The people should see this kind of context.

The second thing would be those titles that won’t sync regardless of the issuing library.
I borrowed Wuthering Heights from the same institution that issued another book synced to my Kobo. It didn’t appear. I’m guessing the book ID wasn’t one Kobo could match, but I don’t know the details there.

So glad to hear it.
The most critical thing now is multiple library/card support. If I’ve got three books through three different institutions, I should see all three sync to my Kobo through a single Overdrive/Libby login.
There was an involved workaround for this that stopped working ~summer ‘25.

It occurs to me a week too late that I could have bugged some Overdrive folks about this in the halls at CodeMash. 🙃

I love @libbyapp.com. I love my Kobo. I cannot understand why their integration is so broken.
Both sides care about readers but point fingers. I’m begging them to get together and fix this and do it right. @mtamblyn.bsky.social

Things That I Buy, by Bantha Fodder Podcast
track by Bantha Fodder Podcast
I was reminded today of a Christmas tune I penned years ago. It’s a parody of an Old Best Friend song and sung by Old Best Friend (@mikecomite.bsky.social).
