lots of weird takes on here today so my contributions are:
-potatoes are great
-women should be able to WFH during periods
-sheets should be washed weekly
-life coaching and self-help can be useful but systemic discrimination can still be greater than individual effort
-medium roast coffee > dark

The New York Times is now blocking The Wayback Machine from accessing its articles.
That means you'll no longer be able to view archived versions of NYT stories published in 2026 and beyond on archive.org.
(All those posts you see tracking changes to NYT headlines and ledes? They relied on WBM).
I haven’t read the story yet, but I nonetheless feel confident in sharing this meme.
I’m still toughing it out, but I felt better after a friend revealed he quit after a week.
I’m horribly near-sighted; the weird piece for me actually had been getting use to the “middle” prescription. For instance, in the moment before my eyes/brain adjust, my laptop screen looks concave.
I’m envious!
I just got progressive lenses over the weekend. I was prepared for the expense, but not for the constant nausea as my brain and eyes try to negotiate three different prescriptions in my lenses (not to mention the unaltered view on the periphery).
A gaping hole is left, for anyone to fill.
People, deliberately starved of purpose and meaning and narrative, will desperately snatch at any they can find. Any that are for sale.
Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.
Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!
🌕 💛

LOL, trying to stay offline and do my work, and friends are sending me
"LOOK AT THIS NEW PIC!" texts ....
This one is worth it.
First PoC and first woman to go around another world. Don't stop talking about this point. It's important.

Going to get some great images from NASA in the coming days. Here’s a couple of post-splashdown snaps of actual heroes.
tank enjoyer @paradoomer gotta believe another world is possible. aint no fucking way billions of years of evolution culminating in this historical moment will end with us languishing on this spinning rock in space only to oppress ourselves forever. it would be an incredible waste. i refuse to believe it
moon mission got me feeling some such way
Hi, I’m plaque blocking the left anterior descending artery (“the widowmaker”).
Today marks 100 days into this butthole of a year
I think both Miracle Whip and regular ol’ mayo are delicious.
To the folks saying, “Just get a library card”—do you not realize that you can check out digital books for Kindles from most libraries? I haven’t shopped Amazon in more than a year, but I have read a ton of digital books thanks to Libby and my local library. This move by Amazon is simply obnoxious.
Old school SUV decorated with colorful Peeps candy, making a mosaic showing flowers and three pink female faces .
My sent me a pic from Houston’s Art Car parade. At first I thought this one was crocheted, but if you zoom in it’s a Peep mosaic.
I *cough* had to set up multiple accounts for my different interests after hitting the follow limit. 😅

Haven’t we been through enough???? That man’s voice is a demigorgon’s death rattle played on a loop.
This is one of my favorite pieces I've written for my daily, urbanism-focused newsletter (which turns five this week!). It combines writing, research, photography, storytelling, and exploring. *As far as I could tell*, this is an untold story. Give it a read! www.thedeletedscenes.com/p/wiener-me-...
I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard. That bird's an asshole! 😂😂😂😂😂
Best with volume up.
Same. 😭

Happy Leland Melvin day to all who celebrate. 💚

I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen
