So "BUT there's a danger in the technology... AND Elon's making it hundreds of times worse." /end

So yes. Li-ion batteries as a technology can catch fire. HOWEVER the Elon Musk implementation has a LOT more fires than the competition. AND when a fire happens, you get locked into a bulletproof compartment and the system shuts off, so you can't escape the fire. It's like a D&D trap by a 13yo DM.

I was going to say "but" and 90% of what I typed was "and".
Too much detail follows: Li-ion batteries do catch fire sometimes (there are technological solutions in development but they're not there yet. The batteries develop, like, lithium icicles that eventually short out the battery and boom.)1/n

(Friend of mine had two brothers. One hid an Annoy-o-tron in the other's house. The victim spent like $10,000 busting down walls, checking wiring, and looking for the problem. If you're going to be an asshole you have to be REALLY funny and... nothing's funny enough for that level of asshole.)

I just said something about RFK Jr that might have been deep: If shame was going to work, it would have worked by now. That applies to every one of these incompetent, evil, losers in his cabinet and possibly to the entire governing Republican Party.

"I'm a privileged murdering piece of shit who thinks people will forget about this."

I mean, every member of his family already turned their back on him. If shame was gonna work it would have worked by now.

Energy Education

*nods vigorously* My memory overstated it, but it's about 10x as energy intensive as iron.
About 200 MJ/kg to make aluminum from bauxite (55 kWh) vs about 20 MJ/kg (5.5 kWh) for iron. (from energyeducation.ca, checked elsewhere, neither source actually known to me.)

I'm old enough to remember when Hunter Biden was constantly in the news for making $0.6 million in salary from Burisma, a job he supposedly got because his father was Vice President. His dong got entered into the Congressional Record.

Anyone else remember that, or is it just me?

We are looking at a painting of St Liphardus - a 6th-century lawyer, hermit and abbot in Meung-sur-Loire near Orléans, France. He is wearing bishops clothing including a surplus and mitre and is holding a crook. On a lead is a small knee high green and blue dragon.

Scientists turn scrap car aluminum into high-performance metal for new vehicles Scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory have created a new aluminum alloy called RidgeAlloy that can turn contaminated car-body scrap into strong structural vehicle parts. Normally, impurities…

Aluminium used to build cars can now be reused to build cars. A new alloy called RidgeAlloy turns contaminated scrap into strong structural vehicle parts. This solves the problem where recycled aluminium from mixed or dirty auto scrap was too weak for structural use buff.ly/tmDSuWf

Leeching onto a person with friends's post to say: I was so pissed off when "ride sharing" got redefined to "law-dodging taxi company" and not, you know. A carpooling app.

So I am a terrible hockey fan but I'm trying. I am against every team [but one] from places where water does not freeze over in winter. I will make an exception for any Florida team who changes their name to the Snowbirds.

If it's any consolation, they don't believe their products work and are just trying to get as much money as possible from the investors.

So.

Solar and wind are A LOT CHEAPER than getting electricity from coal and natural gas. They're cheaper than coal and natural gas if you bought the power plant for a dollar* and the employees were volunteers.

*This could happen. A Swiss nuclear plant was selling for a dollar with no takers.

I'm gonna have to read a Dickens biography now because according to Wikipedia, one reason gave for he separating from his wife was she couldn't leave his dick alone. "To ensure no more children could be born, he ordered their bed to be separated and put a bookshelf in between them..." 1/2
