One of the enduring symbols of the PNW spring. Nice capture, Misako. 🌼
Happy birthday Dawn! Love the picture too! 🎉
Defense attorneys across Oregon and Washington who I spoke to are worried about AI seeping into local police departments before people really understand these technologies.
My latest story:
Thanks! I’ve heard of this book. It’s on my list.
Thank you!
This film series looks great. I checked to see if it’s on the museum’s YouTube channel and it’s not. Do you know if it is going to be aired anywhere else?
Cover of a book titled Reefs Of Time, What Fossils Reveal About Coral Survival by Lisa S. Gardner. Book appears on a table with framed maps and a scale model of the HMS Alexander Humboldt, all partially obscured by the book.
Reading about Darwin’s study of atolls and coral reefs, in @lisasgardiner.bsky.social ‘s Reefs Of Time. Great science writing that blends scientific history with current study of the fascinating life of the reefs. And I’m only on chapter two! #science
Although I’m not a credentialed historian, I’ve read a lot on Weimar Germany over the past year. Downloaded your thesis, which sounds very interesting!
Enjoyed listening to your interview about the book on the @newbooksnetwork.bsky.social podcast this morning. Looking forward to reading it.
Excellent post, Tim.
This is my first adventure with casting to tv, maybe other Apple tv app can’t do it.
Trying Google Cast from phone to hotel tv just isn’t working. I feel my tech chops have slipped. Or maybe I’m not supposed to have expectations for technology in hotels.

I decided to keep our sustaining membership because of the variety of shows OPB maintains, a with a hope that, as the political fortunes of some rise and fall, as they will, our beloved Oregon station will return to its roots. I also am thankful to @ryanjhaas.bsky.social for that heads up. 1/2
I do. I’m so mad about this administration attempting to change history, especially of our fight to save the planet. Reading this book is one small way to stand up. And it looks like a great read too!
Very glad to support you Ryan. As at least one other has suggested, Ghost is an excellent platform free from the Substack problems.
I’m happy to be underdog. Reminds me of 2002 SB against the StL Rams
Everyone seems to think the SB winner is coming from the NFC this year (I did for most of this year). Just getting amped up for it.
Watching NFC championship game like you do when your Pats are already in the SB and which of these teams are be surprised by the ferocious New England D?
Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42. Post the second sentence.
“Despite interesting reflections like this, the emancipation of women does not play a significant role in Kant’s essay on enlightenment, or in his work as a whole for that matter.”
A can of sardines
It was good. I took your idea of making them spicy, just a different pepper. Here’s what I had for sardines, from Trader Joe’s. I haven’t shopped around, but these were okay.
A slice of French bread with sardines, pickled, mildly spicy peppers and capers, on a plate.
I had sardines with capers and Mama Lil’s Peppers on French bread for lunch today. We always ate sardines on bread in the old days.
That protograph would have been handy, wonder whether many sold?
Capers and sriracha sounds good. I’m not a big eater of sardines but I did develop a liking for them growing up, from my dad.
Nice variety. What’s your favorite way to eat them?
Wow! Beautiful
Phone screen showing the cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s a decade of hits 1969 - 1979. Whipping Post, the last song on the album, is shown as playing.
Needed soul-restoring musical accompaniment to my cooking tonight. I went with this album, which I listened to often in my early 1990s commute (on cassette tape of course). Definitely my favorite band for getting back to my center.
