"Scientists say a crucial Atlantic system is more likely to collapse than previously thought. But the billionaire death cult that steers humanity’s destiny doesn’t do existential crises.”

The fucking people who spent three years telling us Biden was reckless fool because every Humvee begrudgingly sent to Ukraine could force Putin to nuke the world are now like, "WE THOUGHT THEY HAD NUKES, SO WE BOMBED THEIR LEADERS A BIT IN THE HOPES THEY'D BE CHILL."

‘Donnyland’? Ukraine Proposes Naming Part of the Donbas in Trump’s Honor.

Yeah this is a real thing happening in the actual world. They are going to rename the Donbas "Donnyland" so an orange toddler-brain demented psychopath feels less pro-Russia.

I have a history degree. Genuinely I don't know of any precedent for this much stupidity.

It is possible to think that this whole undignified Mandelson vetting debacle does not reflect well on the PM at all, while also thinking that another leadership contest is literally the last thing anybody needs right now.

3 days ago 548 78 43 16

Fwiw.

The Prime Minister should have resigned when House of Commons voted that he (and his cabinet) could not be trusted with "national security" decisions on the release of the Mandelson papers.

If House of Commons has no confidence in a PM to do that, they have no real confidence in PM at all.

I hope Bsky doesn't ban me for this, but after this ep I had to provide a selection Ancient Delos penises as proof. Including giant statues of penises, decorated with penis-bird-creatures, or a carving of a penis meeting a penis, with a penis for a tail, and another penis for a penis. So sorry. A x

Incidentally, the inscription below the carving of the two phalluses meeting, reads "ΤΟΥΤΟ ΕΜΟΙ ΚΑΙ ΤΟΥΤΟ ΣΟΙ" - THIS ONE IS FOR ME AND THIS ONE IS FOR YOU.

Which seems pretty equitable. 😱

The “Olly Robbins wasn’t able to divulge that Mandelson failed” line is fishy. You might not share the ultra-confidential report, but are we supposed to believe that OR took it on himself to ignore findings without sharing that with anyone at No10? Without saying “a few problems”? Seems implausible

BREAKING: We’re taking the government to court over Palantir.

The government is refusing to hand over important briefings given to Wes Streeting about the £330m NHS data contract with Peter Thiel’s surveillance firm

So we’re taking legal action.

It's astonishing that Epstein could end up bringing down a government, and that government NOT being Donald Trump's.

There was literally a pangolin that flew combat sorties with the CIA in a dirty war in Laos that then died after drinking too much gin, so there’s at least one pangolin whose record is morally ambiguous

Interesting thread.

If AI removes the grunt work for junior lawyers (eg, due diligence for corporate lawyers and discovery for litigators) then it will affect social mobility, as well as other things.

It is how you learn to be a lawyer in those areas.

Also screw wealthy CEO’s and corporations laying off the very people that made them wildly successful, just for short term gains.

Folks with institutional knowledge, with decades of work, dedication and success all dismissed.

For what? Who knows but it’ll make a great bonus for an exec.

This is something I wish to see change via legislation. Companies being so restrictive of portfolio pieces long after a project is released.

It limits hype for projects, while also keeping workers in the shadows.

They really shouldn’t have power over workers who just want to share their labor.

Another part of Marvel shutting down the Visual Development Team is that Marvel got extremely restrictive of the work the team could show AFTER a project was released.

So this brilliant team could barely show and advertise the work they did. Making a layoff like this even worse.

I think we're all trying our best and doing what we can, and ultimately 99.99% of tech is or will end up being evil, but anywhere we can reduce our use of the most evil helps, like quitting Spotify, Twitter, Amazon and Substack.

Amazon’s anti-human culture put on full display.

“For more than an hour, several employees said, workers in the facility were instructed to continue fetching totes, picking items off shelves and loading them onto trucks for delivery as the man lay dead, and management figured out their next steps.”
