God this is good.

Not sure I like all this #20s30s relevance
The Prime Minister doesn't understand his job.
The Chancellor has given up.
The Home Secretary has radicalised herself.
There isn't a foreign secretary.
A government on autopilot into oblivion.
This is good. Read it, especially but not only if you are a government minister. It comes from a reflective place of praxis. Unlike much of what has been said on this topic, this is not slop.
Ed Miliband today: "The era of fossil fuel security is over and the era of clean energy security must come of age....To ignore two crises in less than five years would be completely irresponsible… our action must now be faster deeper and more wide ranging.”
I’m so glad your husband is home - all best wishes to all of you now.
And the writing will come.
On the complications of starting to write again. #blog #blogging #writing #TheReturnoftheSoldier
Also why so many British recruits had teeth pulled as part of their enlistment in both world wars. Dental infections did not make for efficient soldiers.
Cutting humanities education as we enter an AI future, peak political disinformation, and the rise of fascism, is a level of blunt stupidity in HE management that nobody could have predicted.
My chapter 'The end of the typing pool: New technologies,
old stereotypes, and emotional reactions to workplace change in British print media' is out this week and open access.

This reporting suggests Bridget Phillipson's legislation will muzzle those of us who want to protest against Far Right speakers who say our Black family are intellectually inferior and our Trans family are all potential sex offenders and are mentally ill.
What an unbelievably terrible Government.
Tweet by Martina Navratilova. "Predator. That is how he should register. A sexual predator…" quote-tweeting a tweet by "Biology Rules OK" about Dr. Beth Upton, a trans woman
This tweet is highly defamatory and Martina Navratilova should be fired from BBC Sport for it.
It demonstrates an horrendous level of hatred for a trans woman (who was cleared of all wrongdoing in a recent tribunal) because she is a trans woman.
I think @shivajishivalaw.bsky.social and @johnmunro.bsky.social and @tomflood.bsky.social might appreciate this.
I also like Cardenfreude (the pedestrian’s petty pleasure when walking past miles of stationary traffic).
If you pay for anything Harry Potter-related, if you take part in anything Harry Potter-related, you are sending money to the person who does this and uses the money to pay legal costs for bigots just like her. She is a vile, sick, dangerous misery. A hollow mess who will leave a putrid legacy.
T is OK for cis women but not trans men.
Puberty blockers are OK for cis kids but illegal for trans kids.
You see it, right? You see what this is?
"Reform's manifesto for the Senedd election says the party will tell museums how to display history if it wins, saying they will present events in chronological order and "in context"."
So, History Reclaimed but in government.
History without rigour, compassion, or reflection.

Lot of feelings today, after working on this book for so long. Mostly I hope people find it useful for thinking and talking about this often still unthinkable and unspeakable topic.
Some #20s30s content in here.
my read on terfs has always been that this has been about personal grievances within workplaces like universities and charities, where older self-identified radicals have felt undermined and their positions threatened by a younger, queerer generation
I stress constraints more than most and I am still certain that Starmer's operation has made massive, avoidable errors, and that his position has probably been untenable for some time. They have blown a major opportunity. That is on them, and him, and Labour supporters should not be forgiving.
The problem when I graduated was that there were 200 modern British history PhDs putting in applications for every job, you had to apply for like 50 jobs to get one, and a fair few people left academia before they did. That was unpleasant in its own way, but it wasn’t a death spiral like it is now.
Seems legit, though perhaps needs the middle class as well. Constantly offended in an effort to protect their status! Upper class protected by wealth. Harder for the women, but easier for them to "visit family". And of course worst for the poor women, facing the stigma, and another mouth to feed.
"It is unclear what Reform politicians think this kind of change would achieve, but for a party which claims to favour minimal state interference it is baffling that they think politicians should dictate the content and presentation of an exhibition."
These sound wonderful - congratulations!

I think that's a long-standing injury.
