Totally understandable! Wasn’t expecting a government mandate, but I dig finding out about cool Canadian artists that haven’t crossed over to the states.

Talking Heads and Guess Who were close, but I’ll give it to Röyksopp this round. I expected a higher CanCon threshold.
A bonus cover song for your ears:
Congratulations! We made it to another one!

All hail Avis Rex
It doesn’t always feel optimal, but I like seeing it in precons. I’m still scarred from missing land drops in Boros in 2014, and I appreciate white having access to options.
The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

This was a fun little experiment, and I could see myself trying again in the future. I did only give myself a week to put these together, but I'm excited with the results. Hope they might be of use to some other folks.
with the aim of still having low mv spells in hand and good targets to copy once Muddle hits the board. I've added some access to opponents creatures, graveyard, and extra spell recursion. Change can be temporary. It can also be brutal. Signature Card: Idol of Oblivion
Muddle, the Ever-Changing might be a shapeshifting elemental otter, or it might not. It really depends on when you ask. Getting three copies of any creature during combat is a huge payoff, but requires some set up. Early game is setting up support and some deterrents (or distractions),
turn so that your newest nontoken friends can also benefit. Once you're able to get a token generator and sacrifice outlet running things get out of hand very quickly, and I've included more incremental damage as a reward. How annoying. Signature card: Tyvar, the Pummeler
Gorma, the Gullet is a frog that puts the pest in pestilence. While Dina and Gorma both want to do similar Witherbloom things, Gorma is a social climber. You want to make a slew of friends that she quickly leaves behind. The main difference is that Gorma is more concerned with doing it during your
Haste and flying on Excava make it easy to wait to play them when we know we have good targets to reanimate, so we've focused the majority of the deck on mana value 3 and below. Additional reanimators and graveyard payoffs give us some extra reach. Grindy but fun. Signature card: Grasp of Fate
Excava, the Risen Past is a horse that has school spirit, yes they do. They're also great at recurring pieces from your deck, but only below 3mv and only once. I've added some more payoffs for the spirit kindred theme that already existed, but gave the deck more of a toolbox feel.
I know X could be anything, but remember that dying with X spells in hand always means zero. Signature Card: Elusive Krasis
Primo's ability can snowball pretty quickly, but remember that it triggers based on the total amount of damage done to a player by creatures with 0 power. If you need to go wide you need to hit multiple players. Tried to find some extra protection and some help when rebuilding.
Primo, the Unbounded is the fractal wolf inside of each of us that wants to solve for 0. While we get to hang onto some of the fun, big pay off X spells, Primo does reward us for owning creatures with 0 (printed) power. Luckily there are some X creatures that meet our needs.
Scriv triggers on entering and attack, so there are a few ways to get triggers without making bad attacks, as well as ways to make your aggressive tactics sting a little more. Sticks and stones may break bones, but words are bothersome and binding. Signature Card: Reconnaissance
Scriv, the Obligator is an inkling bird (although it looks like there may be some papier-mâché as well) that aims to contractually obligate your opponent's creatures to not attack you. Since Scriv's ability has no payoffs for the aura theme of the original deck, many of those ended up getting cut.
They're organized in broad, general categories and have been thoroughly playtested. Adds are marked with green, cuts are in red and moved to the maybeboard. For Strixhaven each of the alts are focused on fantastic legendary embodiments of the Schools' token creatures.
Regardless, my goal is to remix these decks so they fit the theme and playstyle of the alternate commanders without tuning them beyond other precon decks. I tried to keep the new card cost below the cost of the precon and land bases are left intact.
Maybe someone else in your playgroup bought the same deck so you want to try something different, or you're new to brewing and need some help finding a direction. You might open a precon and realize you don't enjoy the main commander's playstyle.

I love Commander precons, but I'm always drawn to the alternate commanders. Decided to try my hand at adjusting the new #Strixhaven decks to suit their alternates better in a project I'm calling About Face.
I’m figuring narrower baking powder container opening. Likely easier to fit a teaspoon through three times.
Mercadia's Downfall {2}{R} Instant Each attacking creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn for each nonbasic land defending player controls. With an explosion that shook the foundation of the city, the Weatherlight burst from the underground hangar. Illustrated by Pete Venters
Any word on whether they’ll be playing hockey, as expected? 😀
Manapool has done well by me! They give out discount codes to creators for first orders.
It’s always great when you find out celebrities are just normal folk like the rest of us!
