2/ In light of this judgment, TGEU calls on the Prime Minister-elect Magyar Peter to swiftly implement the necessary changes:
- Withdraw all disgraceful anti-LGBTI laws
- Remove the enforced gender binary from the Hungarian constitution
- Revoke the ban on legal gender recognition
🧵 Historic win: EU Court strikes down Orban’s anti-LGBTI laws
In a landmark decision, the EU’s top court today struck down Orban’s anti-LGBTI legacy. A clear sign against transphobia in the EU.

4/ We call on democratic states, international institutions and human rights actors to strengthen coordinated resistance against this escalation of repression and to ensure protection for those affected.
4/ TGEU condemns the Lukashenko regime’s ongoing systematic repression and persecution of LGBTI people and other targeted groups, which reflects a broader picture of entrenched authoritarian rule and the erosion of fundamental rights.
3/ The law explicitly places homosexual relationships, love, trans identity and gender transition in the same category as paedophilia, a criminal offence involving sexual exploitation and violence against children.
2/ Yesterday, 15 April, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko signed the law “On Amendments to the Codes on Administrative Responsibility,” introducing liability for so-called “propaganda” of “homosexual relationships, gender transition, childlessness, and paedophilia.”

3/ The initiative’s backers highlight that recognising a non-binary gender option would significantly advance the rights to self-determination and foster greater equality across society.
2/ This step would enable individuals to self-declare their gender without the need for additional certificates or statements, simplifying the process and promoting inclusivity.
🧵 A landmark citizens’ initiative in Finland has successfully gathered over 50,000 signatures, securing its place for parliamentary review.
The proposal calls for the introduction of a third, non-binary gender option on official documents, standing alongside the existing male and female markers.

4/ The introduction of third-country return mechanisms raises equally serious concerns. Deportations to countries that fail to guarantee the rights and safety of LGBTI people risk exposing trans asylum seekers to systemic discrimination and widespread violence.

4/ Amnesty International has created a petition urging the Turkish authorities to drop all charges against Genç LGBTI+ members and defend human rights.
3/ In December 2025, an Izmir court ordered the group’s closure, a ruling now under appeal. This is a serious attack on freedom of association and a direct assault on LGBTI rights.
