Full disclosure - they asked for an R&R for one of my YA books and wanted me to cut a pivotal scene in a hotel room that was not sexual in any way just because it was “in a hotel room.” I told my agent no f-ing way & turned down the offer. I hate that they’re doing the book banners’ job for them. 🤬
This is all to say that if you are in the query trenches for the second, third, or fourth time, don’t despair.
Most of your favorite authors went through the same process before they found success. You will get there too! ❤️
Talk to seasoned authors with multiple published books and you’ll often hear the same story. They wrote and queried many books before they got an agent.
Writing craft is a thing that grows over time. Most people have to learn what their voice is. What category and genre best fits the story they want to tell.
This often takes a lot of time, work, and often multiple books to get it right.

Over the years, I’ve seen people post about getting an offer of rep after writing one book and querying only 20 agents.
Is this possible? Yep. Is it common? I’d say most likely not.

Authors (especially women): Please stop apologizing for promoting your books. You created an incredible piece of art. You SHOULD BE shouting about it from the rooftops as much as you want. It’s a lifetime achievement, and anyone belittling you for doing promo has issues with themselves not you.

Also, if you say someone’s writing sounds like AI, it’s because those stupid machines were trained using OUR STOLEN WORK, so that’s why it sounds like our voice.
If you accuse writers of using AI based on grammar choices, I’m going to immediately believe you don’t know jack about how much of AI has stolen & been trained using original work without given any compensation to writers.

I really need Michael B. Jordan to win the Oscar. His performance in Sinners was transcendent, and TC’s Marty Supreme, IMO, was nothing but another treatise on how narcissistic, selfish men will screw everything in their life to achieve their own pathetic goals.
