That’s a wrap on our inaugural 2nd-year @earthscista.bsky.social undergraduate field trip to the Lake District!

We were blessed with predominantly glorious weather ☀️ which made measuring water quality & transport, carbon flux and boundary layer properties all the more fun 😁

Are you interested in climate? Do you have a background in maths, physics, climate science, or a related field?
Would you like an office half a mile from the beach?

If the answer to most of those is yes, you might be interested in this PhD project at St Andrews.

Congratulations to Ed Stephens, who has been offered a position as Honorary Professor!

Ed joined St Andrews in 1972 and “retired” in 2005. But since then, his work on applying geochemical methods to tobacco research and exploring the health impacts of vaping, has had outstanding impact.

Ice and snow warning for most of Scotland as hundreds of schools remain closed The Met Office warning covering all of Scotland apart from Shetland is from 22:00 on Wednesday until noon on Thursday.

Heavy snowfall events will occur throughout the 21st century, despite global warming ❄️⛄⛷️

Reason is non-intuitive and relates to the existence of an 'optimal' temp for heavy snow that is insensitive to warming (details: www.nature.com/articles/nat...)
