Phantasy Star II – 1993 Developer Interview - shmuplations.com This short interview from 1993 talks about various aspects of the development of Phantasy Star II, including the reason for its terrifically complex dungeons.

Phantasy Star II celebrates its 37th anniversary today, and we have two great interviews covering its development. This one comes from The World of Phantasy Star; my favorite detail is how the fiendishly complex dungeons were the result of a tryharding new employee. shmuplations.com/phantasystar...

Oh, that's why my metrics have taken a dive recently - Twitch pushed a new update that doesn't count someone as a viewer if they don't have the Twitch tab in focus

RIP everyone who watches streams in the background, Twitch has no idea how people actually use their platform

It's Mar10 Day, and that seems as good a reason as any to post a thread of the notable Super Mariology studies I've been doing on Thrilling Tales of Old Video Games.

First up: SMB2 was made *after SMB3. That's why it looks better.

How Doujin Illustrators Influenced The Aesthetics of Japan's Underground Music Culture Many illustrators who’ve contributed to underground and doujin music scene history eventually find themselves working on monumental projects, like Vtuber designs or video game concept art - but it’s cool to see that there’s a place for everyone to play a role in this part of the subculture, irrespective of where the future takes them.

How Doujin Illustrators Influenced The Aesthetics of Japan’s Underground Music Culture: Kai Redfield explores Japan's underground music scene and how doujin illustrators have played an invaluable role in defining the aesthetics and vibes of the landscape.

Using "Remake" for what's just a first part felt kinda deceptive, too. Lot of weird decisions made there.

Every single artist that posts on BlueSky should have this saved to their computer because so many of you are posting character torsos all day.

You can shop his inventory on ABE books also. Here's the link. I know Greg would appreciate any business he can get as ICE has really tamped down on people shopping.

The SDF-3, as seen in the sadly cancelled Robotech: Crystal Dreams for N64. This would have been right up my alley; an ambitious Wing Commander-esque (with a little Privateer) Robotech space combat game.

First announced in 1995, it would go through three years of development before cancellation.

Great news: they narrowed it down to Momo not being terminal! It's likely an acute injury, but we're waiting on test results. The bad news is that he needs to stay 48 more hours, and that'll cost a lot. Anything helps donation-wise or by sharing. Thank you for all your help so far, I appreciate it.

while KOSA passed the subcommittee, there is still the full committee meeting it needs to go through before being voted on by the Senate/House

support is more split on it than you'd think, we just need to pull away enough votes to block it. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES!

Absolutely fantastic stuff @gamesack.net and @mylifeingaming.bsky.social. As someone who read EGM *religiously* and then was lucky enough to get a job there in 1994, I appreciated seeing this inside look into the early days of the magazine and its history. www.youtube.com/watch?v=E010...

If you happen to be looking for an alternative audiobook listening platform, there are many out there, including us at Libro.fm 👋

We aim to build community in many ways, including by supporting independent bookshops with every purchase you make—versus tearing communities apart.

I switched to this and @bookshop.org for every book, ebook, and audiobook purchase where they have what I want - which is 99% of them -- and the apps are great, and I get to support a local bookstore. It's all win here, folks.
