Tulsa, Muskogee, Stillwater, Oklahoma City, and Norman all lean Democratic. Oklahoma isn't different than any other state. Rural areas lean Republican and the bigger the town, the higher percentage of Democrats.

You don't have to become the Netherlands in order to enable more people to leave the car at home. Multi-use paths with some basic separation from roadways is enough to get people rolling. It's something that most cities and suburbs can do now with minimal investment and space.

Not only economically unfeasible, but environmentally destructive and physically and psychologically unhealthy. Other than that it's pretty cool.

And the cops know it's not reliable tech, so not making sure this stuff is verified by human eyes makes them culpable. Not that an arrest would ever be appropriate anyway. Misunderstandings can be fixed on the spot, not by cops with a warrant weeks later.

The building and parking lot already exist. The store would be within biking and walking distance of thousands of households. What's the downside?

Looking at Google Maps recently and was shocked to see a Tufts stop on the Green Line. It's been a while. Also: Mattapan High Speed Line.

She was interning for Ted Kennedy in his Foreign Affairs and Immigration office back in 2009 and fielded all the calls from Spanish speakers. She has known intimately how government works for a long time.

A tipping point to get to is when cities realize people are not visiting them in favor of other cities with better transportation, so they prioritize better transportation to attract visitors.

On an almost empty flight a couple of years ago I set every screen around me to a Marx Bros movie. I didn't realize what important work I was doing.

To be fair, she calls the great slowdown an excellent idea.

I just want to try Gentlemen's Relish, something I have never heard of until just now, just as it's being lost to history, (and not because of her description).

Isn't the point that people in cars are catered to, seen as "in a hurry" and prioritized? Does that say something about our culture if I am seen as less of a priority because I am not in a car?

"America" doesn't love idiotically oversized pickups. A certain kind of person does along with the people who make money off of selling them.

Pakistan was pushing for a ceasefire before Trumps screeching threats of the last couple of days. His intimidation did not work.

Basically, every city in the country leans strongly Democratic. Visiting the south means rubbing shoulders with the people who have a lot on the line in the fight for our democracy. They can't be lazy in elections and more and more are in a constant struggle against their state governments.

Hopefully, more people will make the move to Salt Lake out of sense of duty and mission. There's a lot on the line. And even though Grand Junction's a cool city, SLC has a lot going for it. (And for those knee jerk reactions about it being a red state, the entire SLC area is overwhelming Democratic)

Strip malls are a scam where towns and residents foot the bill providing services that they don't get back in tax revenue. Such a good scam that the victims don't even know they've been scammed and just keep asking for more.

The current design for median lane BRT on US 29 in Silver Spring calls for narrowing sidewalks in Four Corners to fit BRT stations. Not narrowing traffic lanes to create room and provide much needed traffic calming, but narrowing sidewalks.

Democrats in red states have more on the line as they fight for our democracy. The struggle is real for them, yet many people are surprised to see them out protesting.

Why would Ukraine give away land as concessions? Russia needs to give everything it's taken along with Kursk and Belgorod Oblasts.

It's aggravating because people pat themselves on the back after one march and say, hey, let's do this again in a few months. There needs to be constant protests in our cities. Ukraine Maidan protests were constant. The Velvet revolution was constant. What will it take for us to reach that?

"Looking at what residents choose to do, or observing how they move through their neighborhoods, can help planners design places that better fit..."

That's a problem. Many want to walk, but don't just feel uncomfortable, they also don't feel safe. You can't judge demand by seeing where people walk.

It's infuriating because the government is absolving itself from responsibility in setting too high speed limits, or creating infrastructure that allows or encourages people to drive fast.
