Incredible to live in a time where AI governance is encroaching ever more on our lives yet I’m still required by law to provide and deliver in person a physical piece of paper with signatures in ink to verify a minor detail on a car title transfer.😣

How the perception of time works by your mid-50s when you realize how long ago things you remember happened:
10 years ago: “Wow!”
20 years ago: “Damn!”
30 years ago: “Fuuuuck!”
40 years ago: (existential paralysis)
50 years ago: (random synaptic firing)
Weekly trivia is all fun and games till you realize you've spent $150 a month on mediocre bar food.
Four nights out in the space of seven days is two too many nights out for this old frugal guy.
Happy shopping! It’s too cold, windy, and rainy today (and too much to do at home) for a long, long wait outside and inside at Josey. I’ll peruse the leftovers next time I’m in!
There's tragic poetry in the CBS prime-time schedule slowly eroding over the course of 70+ years from a relatively varied buffet of middlebrow flavors and textures to a white plate with a single massive cop-flavored baked potato ringed by a few sad peas and pineapple chunks.
Outstanding! As I always tell the skeptics outside higher ed, despite everything they've experienced, the kids are alright.
This is the way.
It's annoying yet oddly satisfying that we have to manually turn off Copilot all the time in Outlook.
Fascinating and confessional deep-dive conversation about our ambivalent and shifting relationships with gen AI and each other. Future historians note: this is a perfect artifact of this moment in the 21st century. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
I love records and (in theory) RSD, but there’s not quite enough compelling stuff coming this year to justify an early Saturday rise and a 2-3 hour wait in line. Even if it’s not raining.
As someone squarely in that demo who’s somehow tacked left and lefter my whole life, I think it’s Reagan-era mythos, 80s masculinity, 90s irony, 00s jingoism, getting kneecapped by the recession, Fox News, and social-media fueled resentment. Stuck in a mire of dead-end nostalgia and loathing.
My usual dream settings are Escher-like conference venues, hotels, and airports, explored not with confusion but confidence.
But I appreciate how my subconscious simultaneously rejects interacting with screen technologies. I can read screens in dreams, but am never able to enter any text.
Congrats to all in Hungary (and Europe!), and hoping we can win and secure that change everywhere it’s needed in the world. 🇭🇺
Several months late to the party, but really enjoying this Blood Orange album on a drizzly spring afternoon. Contemplative stream of consciousness chamber pop, with a lot of collaborators along for the ride. www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/...
Blaming this week’s Pitt episode for this subconscious jaunt.
For the record, yes he was wearing his usual white pants, blue shirt, and captain’s hat, and a conference lanyard and name badge. And we all took it in stride, like old friends do.
A passing moment in a dream last night involved a hangout at an academic conference which included the Skipper from Gilligan’s Island (apparently a full prof in media studies), me calling him “Jonas” (which is his character’s actual name), and asking if he’s heard from Gilligan lately.
My brain. 🤔
A program for the 2026 OK2BX high school film festival in Dallas, TX.
In my seat for my favorite annual local film festival, which I’ve been proud to support since the beginning. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

The "fun size" of any candy or beverage should be at least 1.5x the size of its normal size.
The experience on the ground here in DFW is much the same as it is everywhere else financial capital invades: high-end development, gentrification, rising housing prices, falling public services, and the creep of social disconnection. We should demand better. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Feeling like I’m going around securing everyone else’s oxygen masks and getting to mine eventually.
Getting to it tonight, and I'll let you know. I'm not surprised, the way this season is edited. Begging Probst and TPTB to learn from the failures of this season, boot the celebrity stunts, and just get back to the new-gen formula of fresh casts that's (mostly) been working since Survivor 41.
This, and also for academic fields.
Doing my part to keep the theatrical experience alive by spending $17 for popcorn and a drink.
He’s already in this season of THE COMEBACK as himself so that tracks!
Kudrow would as well, of course, but she's got her very own, very iconic take on the same idea going in THE COMEBACK.
Just thinking that a contemporary take on SUNSET BOULEVARD would have to have a network TV star of the late 90s-early 00s in the Norma Desmond role to match the 25ish year gap in the original.
Several actors who fit the bill would KILL in that role: Anderson, Aniston, Cox, JLD, Margulies...
