It is absolutely the role of local councils to be doing what they can to tackle climate change, support green initiatives and to promote equality and diversity in our communities.

It's a complete dereliction of duty to our residents, now and in the future to suggest otherwise.

This government has one last chance to take a progressive path. Otherwise, we’re at the point of no return | John McDonnell In her spring statement, I urge Rachel Reeves to look beyond short-term economic stability – and towards tackling long-term inequality, says former Labour shadow chancellor John McDonnell

This is welcome from John McDonnell

There is an alternative to ever more cuts.

A wealth tax of just 2% on those with assets over £10 million would raise £24 BILLION!

Let's tax extreme wealth, not punish the poorest.

What @richardburgon.bsky.social (and others) is saying about a wealth tax is really exciting and could raise billions for the government. Those with the broadest shoulders should be the ones to bear the heaviest burden.

I believe the proposed cuts to disability welfare are wrong. They'll push thousands of the most vulnerable further into the margins & into poverty. The Government needs to look at things differently. The promised change needs to be more than a red hand holding the scissors instead of a blue one.

Elon Musk wields chainsaw during CPAC appearance | CNN Politics During an appearance at CPAC, Elon Musk used a chainsaw as a prop to tout his efforts to shrink the federal workforce in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency.

I don’t know about you, but the world’s richest man brandishing a chainsaw and touting his efforts to shrink government spending—all while his companies make millions a day from federal contracts—wasn’t on our 2025 bingo card.

There is no room for hate and fascism in our communities. We must stand together and build a broad movement against this threat. It was a privilege to address today's #StandUpToRacism counter demo in London.

Disgusted by the Met police.

Today they arrested Chris Nineham lead steward dragging him to the ground.

I’ve seen him lead hundreds of stewards, ensuring peaceful and safe protests for 15 months.

Anyone with sense can see this blatant attempt to manufacture a clash between protestors and police.

Structural misogyny is a societal scourge that the left and progressive-minded people most constantly recommit to fighting. But we must also be wary of those on the right of our politics attempting to use this issue to fan the flames of racism.

This is a great article from @jessicabarnard.bsky.social and Ben Liao.

Violence against women and girls is all too real, as is the reality that people and politicians would rather use it to play political football and attack multiculturalism.

Biden will be remembered as a spineless man who held international law in contempt.

From the economic warfare he waged against millions of Cubans to enabling Israel to commit the crime of genocide against Palestinians.

He represents everything that’s wrong with the democrats

I just voted for the Renters Rights Bill to ban no-fault evictions & hold landlords to account — vital steps toward recognising housing as a right.

To truly solve the housing crisis, we need rent controls & a new generation of council housing for secure affordable homes for all.
