I definitely agree that my whole Mörk Borg campaign felt very funhouse-y, in that player agency was minimized in favor of just nasty/bizarre things unfolding. It was fun, but by the end I wanted something more challenge-based. Hence, the new campaign is Cairn.

I feel like Mythic Bastionland combat evolves the same core rules while putting an emphasis on tactics. Easily plugged into Cairn if you want to make the players more badass fighters.
