Now everything is an actual object, so to do next:

1. Water (or maybe the last)
2. Loot drops on collisions, and hard to pick up
3. Not much of the "actual game" currently to be honest, but it's the hardest part xD

My face when I'm slopping the world map together... the CollisionPolygon2D look weird man xD

Here's a 1152x648 picture upscaled to 1.6 in #godot. This section looks very small, so I assume the whole #map (island) will be tiny... (~5x11 sections)

Now actually adding all these things as textures or objects with collisions is rocket science for me xD

Alright, so I just decided to start with one of the sections and that single prop took me like 2 days (non-broken ship also took ~2 days), so that's not even a complete scene, but already -4 days of my life xD.

I figured that I need a total of ~48-55 sections, and I think I'm screwed :D

I'm a retard, I should have just used the "Slice" tool :D

Well, I still have to draw a ton of art, but at least the sections are now split without me placing all the pixels manually xD

How do you approach #worldbuilding? I feel an absolute existential dread when it comes to planning how the map will look xD

I used #figma to create 48 sections of 1152x648 resolution (my default godot project viewport) and will then draw art for each of these sections...

So I've been cooking all day again, but this pirate is even more cooked๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank god he is dumb enough to kick his own ass, haha

oh wait, it's actually me who's dumb... gotta go back and fix it...

true, I thought it'd be a linear process, but instead I end up scrambling up a little bit of everything just to get the idea :D

Snifffff... ๐Ÿƒ

Smells like scope creep ๐Ÿ˜†

Had to make that giant map just to draw that tiny island just to give myself context to make an actual island just to make sense of the current things I already have.

Btw I'm still in my test level, so it makes no sense xD

No worries mate, it looks great! I think the first couple of seconds have that crisp look and then it blurs, at least for me xD

How do you approach it? I did some giant AI code shit which I don't even dare to understand how it works, but I know some recommend using Ray-casting in Godot. I haven't used it yet, but I think it may allow to reduce the amount of code. What's your take on it?

I haven't added collisions or anything, but looks good enough for me xD

I wanted to make an opening scene, so the game doesn't launch you straight into beating mobs. This ship is one of the props for that opening. Hopefully, that thing will sail one day :D

yeah, the method for shadows I used for my top down game was thinking about how I'd do shadows in normal photo-editing, e.g. creating a copy of the sprite, making it black and tuning the opacity. I asked AI to code it so I've no idea how it works I just know it does:D Making it dynamic is next level

that's a very unique perspective, and looks fun too! I don't know about the complexity, but it does feel like an extra layer not accessible for my vibecoding monkey brain :D

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, I noticed that rocks had voxels, but then other objects seemed like sprites, so I was wondering how it works xD Anyway, looks very cool and inspiring!

looks epic! is this a combination of 2d and 3d or some clever layering trick?

I wanted to keep the layers organized, but at some point I just gave up, I think I'm screwed xD

I need to at least separate the "body" of the ship from the masts / sails, otherwise I will not be able to walk under them. Also I wanted to make sails animated, but hell nah :D

Alright, so does it look like I know what I'm doing? Because I've got absolutely no clue what the hell I'm building here ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyway, I've got:
1. Piles of gold
2. Mobs drop XP
3. Player's leveling up only inside the dungeon (don't ask why, I think I'm retarded)
