Could be! I’ve also seen Google get it right with slightly different question wording, though. Any plausible answer could also be the right answer, is the problem. I can’t see myself being able to trust any of them for a question I don’t already know the answer to.

Widely known sex abuse rumors that no one can quite get a source on the record for about a leading Democratic governor candidate is exactly the kind of thing Gawker existed to report, I’m just saying.

The value of a liberal arts education is that I know that a weird little guy who only answers questions accurately if you phrase them just right is called an Elf and that motherfucker is never to be trusted.

Some guy wrote “skill issue?” with a screenshot of a very carefully worded and punctuated question that managed to get the right answer out of google’s ai.

Posting about AI is so funny because inevitably there are replies like the computer is real and he’s my friend and you asked him the question wrong

also a very plausible looking answer! These are just the kind of words and numbers that I’d expect to see in any answer to a question like this.

In this case it’s funny that the most plausible number of E’s in “nonsense economy” is firmly 5, despite the actual answer being 3. I mean, it does kind of seem like a phrase with 5 E’s in it, right? I can see it.

If anything it’s surprising how often “generate what a plausible answer to this question would look like” is good enough.

15 hours ago 43 3 3 0

And, again, the explanation for this kind of result is that the ai can’t *do* anything. It can’t count letters or do math. It can only generate what a reasonable answer to this question would look like, which this absolutely is. This isn’t a bug, it’s all that gen ai does.

two Ns make an E, as they say

“economy, often referred to as the three E’s” and one of the E’s is economy. There are infinite E’s in the nonsense economy because economy is recursive.
