Not sure if anyone exists out here, but in case you do, I think this is fun and kind of mind blowing to think about

Yeah, something else. This whole ‘liberals’ scapegoating by leftists is actually a big pet peeve of mine

Just the high of self-perception as writers or creatives or worse still, ‘thinkers’ but nary an actual thought or even reading on topics they opine on liberally

Were they all just as shallow earlier or have they completely stopped thinking for themselves relatively recently? Every stand they take is copy pasted from some woke handbook. No rigour in thought or research. Just vibes. Just cool brand building

It’s disconcerting to find yourself constantly on the opposite side of the people you were supposed to be ideologically aligned with. It would have made more sense if I felt I had switched teams — become a right winger or a conservative, but I haven’t.

A gay Republican tweeted in their favour. Geo News called him gay in a headline and now all pti supporters are castigating Geo for being homophobic 🤣

Sometimes I look at my notes with incredulity. There is so much finished work in there, even, and yet I don’t shoot it because maybe there’s some last 1% that I feel I still need to work on. Truly, perfection is the enemy of done

And our relationship does not entail me bad mouthing my religion of birth or anything like that. I have never even spoken to them about my beliefs

But why rethink everything about myself? That is exactly who I hope I am. It was very flattering for me to think that someone with whose religion my religion has such a long history of feuding could see me as so open minded as to consider marriage

I’m not interested in scouting girls for my son. Hopefully he will find someone on his own. But just some thoughts because one friend actually stated it directly

I am saying all this in relation to myself because they don’t really know my son. At max they have seen him once.

Although I’m not some roll over and die type. I deliberately make sure people see my ‘pakistaniness’ when we sing songs, for instance. I dress in shalwar qameez a lot, dont drink. General cultural muslimness is obvious. Lekin haan prejudice naheen hai, na apni Indian identity ke khilaaf, na kisi

How shall I read into this?
1) That there may be a greater number of Hindus willing to step out of their religion for marriage?
2) That America has enabled them to be less communal?
3) That our (my husband and i’s) behaviour shows we don’t discriminate so it puts them at ease?

One of the biggest indicators of lack of prejudice is whether you will marry your kid into another community/religion. I have had two Hindu friends express oblique interest in my son for their daughters. Bohat fascinating laga mujh ko.

I follow certain people who are obsessed with decolonization and Palestine or the stolen artefacts at the British museum & they incessantly share the pop culture they partake in, all of which is Brit or American. And they see no irony.

Clean the bathroom, the fridge, do the laundry, fold the laundry, vacuum, swiffer, cook, do grocery, put away grocery, push back the thought of all the drawers & cabinets that need to be organised better. Do jobs that earn you money. And then have spare time leftover for ‘passion projects’. Hah!
