Calling out Al slop means calling it out not just for bars and corps, which we don't usually think of as the person behind it, but also use of it within the community. If your friend starts using or confesses to using generative Al, hold them accountable. Stop giving a pass for fascist tech to people because you like them. Weaponized helplessness is too prevalent here. Yes, most if not all of us within the pup community are neurodivergent and burnt out. No, that does not give us a pass to encourage or dismiss the harm fascism and the extensions of it bring to community. We're not mad enough about the tech being used to devalue art. We're not mad enough at the tech being used to bomb schoolgirls in Iran. We're not mad enough about the tech being used to racially profile immigrants. We're not mad enough about the tech being used to commit genocide against Palestinians. What do you mean you'll post or repost anti-Al content but when it's a community member using it, they get a pass? So much of our power is LOCAL and it is PERSONAL. If we refuse to make that difference where we can... what are we really doing?

Holding community accountable is not fun. It is not enjoyable. It's also unavoidable if you care at all about making things better. If you care about your friends and if you care about being able to grow with them, you should be able to hold each other accountable. I don't think most Al gen users are evil, but the tech itself is, and once you're aware of the harm and continue to use it, you're complicit. That's the biggest thing. If you're genuinely ignorant and not a single piece of information about Al has ever made its way into your feed, you've never looked up anything about it, and you're just finding out today that it's bad, it's so deeply not difficult to stop using it. You're a whole ass person and you don't have to use Al. No one is exempt from having free will and the ability to just not use it.
