Started the day really strong with a strong bit of writing, then stared at a screen trying to prepare for that not-so-secret Minecraft server I’ve been working on making a modpack for.

I’m happy to say I’m almost done with that. I wanted to get it done earlier last month, but no complaints here!

Tfw you mean to get to sleep at 4 AM, then you check the time and it’s 5:30, then you try sleeping for about two and a half hours just to lay there overthinking the entire time, which makes you realize it’s past 8 and now it’s not worth sleeping because you have an appointment at 11.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Highly recommend Slouching Towards Branson. Even if you don’t like his music, it’s a lot of jokes and an absolutely brilliant story overall. Between the Fudge Frog, Casper, Dennis, the pants, and the epilogue, probably one of the both funniest and heart-wrenching stories I’ve heard.

I’ve already watched the original Slouching Towards Branson special by Will Wood, but it just dropped on Spotify today and I’m having a great time listening to it again, vividly imagining the original performances in the meantime.
